I love the way trumpsters have to twist on this issue.
They don’t like the program but don’t criticize dirty donny for starting it.
Because they don’t like the program, they want it ended. But somehow find a way to criticize Biden when he ends it.

 

People can hate Trump, or Biden, a bad 'alignment of the stars', or whatever else amuses them -- the simple, unvarnished TRUTH is that government has no fugging business dictating whether or not people must meet their own financial obligations, including rents, purchases, leases and on and on.

A "moratorium" on evictions for non-payment is, in one word, BULLSHIT, no matter which political faction does it!

"I suggest to Joe that maybe GOVERNMENT should pay the rent!" "I'm shocked -- SHOCKED!"

 

Govt. officials should have to pay for their own security detail also.

 

Biden's hands were tied by the Supreme Court decision. The expiration is due to Congressional inaction, mostly on the part of Democrats since the Republicans were never in favor of it to begin with. But Democrats sat on their hands until the last minute, likely on purpose, and so nothing was done.

 

Congressional action funded the renters to the tune of 40 billion. Shall Congress hold their hand forever and ever?

Yes, I do realize that, but it was still taking place and is now, and that's under Biden. I'm glad it's expiring, it should have expired 6 months ago.

 

And nothing should be done. It should end immediately.

 

But whole families can become homeless if they are evicted. People like Mitch McConnell need to realize this is a National Emergency and stop acting as if having millions living in the streets is some sort of core American value. Congress needs to act here and pay these rents while meanwhiile building new and free housing for everyone who can''t afford it. Social infrastructure is as real as physical and unless it is maintained we are becoming what Russia was, a third world nation with a first world Armed Forces. Biden seems a President who, at last, realizes we cannot keep enriching the arms industry at the expense of everyone else. The arms race was how we bankrupted Russian in the eighties and how we are bankrupting ourselves now

 

Actually the federal government provided $47 billion in rent support payments to citizens. The estimate of overall unpaid rents is around $20 billion. Obviously the government wasted $47 billion because people didn't use it to pay rent. They used it extend their unemployment. The fool you quoted from Twitter has no idea what he is talking about.
