What is there off the camera that would explain these police officers swooping in and shooting a kid with a BB gun in seconds. Perhaps if they had no idea he was armed and approached him... but you tell me, why would they attack and shoot someone without attempting to at least give him a change to drop it?

Oh, and political forums would really suck if we had to wait for all the facts.

Except that's not what happened. I didn't see the kid move his arms in a shooting position, hell I didn't see the weapon. I saw Quickdraw McGraw open fire and kill the kid. And "Appears 20" is the most BLATANT lie I've ever seen in my life. I want this bastard in Cross Examination, hopefully witnesses come forward.

Actually that would be one of your conservative friends on the previous page. Just trying to help in the interests of accuracy you understand.

Question, why did it matter if the orange tip was removed? The police never even saw the tip of the gun.

Why these police shootings become so political polarizing is disgraceful.
By using a little common sense, a logical person will realize that each incidence has it's own set of circumstances. Not all cops have it in for black youths and not all black youths are thugs.

To me, there was overwhelming evidence early that supported and justified officer Wilson shooting Michael Brown.
This one involving the 12 year old raises many more questions.
One of the first things that stood out to me was how fast and close the patrol car moved in on the 12 year old and how fast the officer drew his weapon and fired. But in all fairness, I'm sitting at home watching it go down on a video, my heart rate is normal and there is no fear of someone shooting me.

Another thing that stood out was that the boys parents let him go out in public with an air pistol that looks like a real handgun, and the fact they knew the potential dangers it could bring him.
It's an obvious mistake they will have to live with for the rest of their lives.

It appears there were a lot of mistakes made that day that left this young boy dead and I think there is plenty of blame to go around on this one.

Neither of you seem to have a clue what happened, somehow.

    http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2014/nov/26/video-tamir-rice-shooting-police-peace-loving-boy

So... waiving around and pointing a bb gun with the orange identifying plug removed that cannot be distinguished from any other firearm... cops are called. Cops show up, and boy is told to put his hands up, and then pulls the gun, and points it at the cops and your conclusion is that cops killed an innocent child because they are racist.

    Go figure.

If cops pull up to someone for whom they have been called, brandishing a firearm and aiming it at people, and then as they approach they are drawn on, I expect them to kill that person to protect their and the lives of the public.

You do? Please enlighten us. Did you watch the vid? At the very least the police should have thought their tactics through a bit better, it wasnt like the kid was killing people with his BB gun.

For one, they did. For two, if it had an orange tip, then the person who called 911 would have identified it as a toy, and things might have gone VERY differently.

Did you look at the article? The video is there. Yes I watched it. There is no better tactic, when someone is brandishing a firearm and randomly aiming it at the public than to rush his ass. If they are then aimed at, they should kill that person dead.

It is a shame... the whole thing is awful... but not the fault of the police.

That does not answer the question and his age is not relevant

Airsoft guns do. It isn't really even a bb gun. It shoots little rubber pellets.

    Tamir's gun

There was a law passed in the 80s I think that any realistic looking guns must have orange caps at the barrel to prevent these sorts of incidents.

So he has to kill someone before he can be killed?

Would you prefer that to be a citizen or a police officer?

No, but before I picked him off without a shot fired I might at least try to give him a chance to surrender. What are you talking about? There were not even any shots fired. this police arrived at a subject with a gun. Period.

So...how many kids were killed by gun violence nationwide that same night, and how many were caused by a police bullet? All this clamoring about police shootings is a smoke screen, there is a dramatically bigger problem the press isn't willing to talk about.

    - - - Updated - - -

Brilliant! Tell me this, how would you ensure he didn't kill your partner while you were talking to him? You aren't a cop are you?

Are you? Perhaps they should have just deployed a sniper and taken no chances at all. maybe someday the PD will have drones and can just dust them damn kids without having to send an officer out at all.

Well genius, your option would leave dead cops lying in the road by taking stupid idiotic chances. Poor decisions result in poor results.

Why do you have to get personal? You obviously have not clue what you are talking aobut or you would not have ot resort to name calling.

Never had someone become offended by being called a genius, you must have some issues. Anyway, the police should not be expected to take a beating or take a bullet just so others can make stupid decisions and place others at risk. That is all I am saying. Have a nice day.
