I wouldn't object to seeing Republicans even more splintered than they already are. I think most Republicans are regretting the day they heard the words "tea" and "party".

You misinterpret my post. Obama has been a great unifying and radicalizing force among conservatives. What I meant is that most conservatives have not yet given up on the country. If Obama is reelected it is possible that most will.

When a significant portion of a people stop believing in the institutions of a country those institutions become weak and hollow. That's what is happening now.

America faces great challenges in the next decade. The only way it can hope to meet those challenges is through unity and solidarity. It can't conceivably meet those challenges at the present rate. America will grow weaker and weaker and weaker. The standard of living will decline further and further and further.

Nothing is forever. America isn't exempt from the forces and processes of history. That's why the leftist experiment will fail.

I was with you to the last sentence.

It wasn't a "lefist experiment" to slash taxes on the theory that that would make revenues grow faster, which is responsible for trillions of debt that has been racked up over the past 30 years.

Bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia!!:xd:;-)

If he is re-elected, most have understood he is an intelligent and capable leader. Are you saying Cons are quitters? Not patriotic or mature enough to stay patriotic because of a fair vote? Bad losers? If your country votes a leader into power, that's it. There is no point whining about it, the people have spoken. Or is the system only fair if it goes your way?

People haven't stopped believing in the institutions, they're skint. They have no money because of the economy. A winter of discontent because of the economy, not a reason to start kicking the pillars of freedom out from under your country. Do you want to join the Arab Spring?

The rightist experiment failed and crashed your economy. That is no reason to turn yeller and betray US.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Reasonable people can disagree about the cause, but there is no disagreement about the effect.

The key to success for any person or nation is preparation. What you have just said is that you prefer to proceed without any.

I could prepare for a volcano to bury my village. The liklihood that a volcano is going to bury my village, or that disgruntled conservatives are going to split off from the Republican mainstream, are equally remote. But you have reached the point that Republicans are wishing you'd just leave.

Either way, there's nothing I need to prepare for.

Everyone needs to prepare for events which are clearly foreseeable. Failure to do so is myopic and will lead to disaster. You are concerned about the arrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic while ignoring the fact that the ship has been hulled.

Good luck in the padded Institution then! Be warned, though, that it will be run by red-inclined orangemen who will sandpaper you all over then pour on boiling tea. Their Death Committee has you on its little list! :) :) :)

'Conservatives' splitting off from the Republican Party is slightly foreseeable. That they would ever become RELEVANT is unforseeable.

I know only one kind of trolls:liberal ones. Most of conservatives posts are well-balanced and serious. But, if you go to same sub-forums e.g. Religion sub-forum you will see how many trolls there are.

Thank you for taking your time. I just came from another board where apparently they don't have enough moderators, nor time to properly evaluate complaints. I was sanctioned multiple times when absolutely NOTHING I posted violated rules. It was very frustrating seeing that the board was moderated simply by virtue of who whined and squealed the most.

The moderation I have seen here appears to be quite reasonable. Thank you to you and the others who take your time to keep it that way.

But only on Mars and the Mad Hatter's tea-party, as yet. I know it was you who shot Kennedy, incidentally, so better watch your step!

Ever been to Mars pal? There are more dentists on Mars than in Britain.

Yeah, and the Irish, unfortunately, aren't known for wonderful oral hygiene either, along with the Russians. The first thing that happens for a model from Russia, is a complete set of caps or dentures.

Do excuse my interruption, Al, but dentists are making a very good living here. That old British bad teeth myth is as accurate as saying all racists are Nazis. It's just not Right.

My closest friend has a buddy from London. He's a big time guy at The City. His wife is a major insurance executive. When they smile they look like hillbillies who lost a fight.

That might be a reasonable measure if the quality of the staff here were anything to rave about. Things being what they are, the smaller the staff, the less chance there is of some anal-retentive pinhead getting in my way.

Quite, I am 18, and I do not have so much as one filling - I know American kids who are 14 and have fillings. My mum is 38 and has no fillings. My gran is 60 this year and has all her own teeth.

Sorry to digress, but I am tired of hearing that old furphy about British teeth from Americans. It is less based upon fact than saying all Americans are obese. I know lots of Americans who are in perfectly good shape.
