That is not the truth. The Nokia 5230 outsold the iPhone by almost 5 times last year. That goes back to what I was saying about rich people being able to buy any phone they wanted.

Don't forget, price doesn't have anything to do with peoples decisions... Right?

Why? I'm looking at iOS vs Android. Android is far superior to iOS. So is the majority of the hardware they load it on.

    iPhone 5? No such thing.

Oh, you are talking about the new iPhone. Yeah, it isn't an iPhone 5. It is the new iPhone 4S.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/ap...announced-voice-recognition/story?id=14663927

    Oooooo. Ahhhhhh.

Voice recognition is so new and cool that I just don't think I can live without an iPhone 4s for more than.... oh wait, my droid already does that. And it does it well. Hell, my voice mail on my droid does that. I read voice messages these days.

    Here's a prelim spec comparison:

Keep in mind that the Galaxy S2 has already been out for a long time...it is just now coming to the states.

GalS2 has a better front camera and is significantly lighter in addition to NFC support (on some models) and a faster processor.

Can you do website/email dictations? I've been using Blackberrys for, more or less, as long as I can remember. I've done this mainly because of their excellent keypads, although I find the OS and third party apps severely lacking (not to mention being glitchy and overall of a shoddy build). The only thing that's kept me from switching to an iPhone was the atrocious virtual keyboard it had. Now that I can dictate, however, I don't see a need for any keyboard.

Of course, it remains to be seen how accurate Siri is... but if it delivers, well, I'm certainly no longer in the market for RIM products.

Ironically, that is one of the few things about iOS I love. I have a cloned iOS keyboard installed on my droid right now.

I liked iOS's texting app too. With handcent SMS, I can duplicate it's look and feel.

Last year?...its almost next year. Things change quickly in this business.

Not as far as smartphones are concerned in this country. Im sure in the alleys of india and the jungles of indonesia price makes a difference...but in general no...otherwise apple wouldnt have the massive footprint it does.

Your entitled to your opinion obviously and if you need to grasp at straws and make disingenous comparisons between OSs when were talking about phone activations,so be it.....but its not driving apple any where close to being out of the market...wouldnt that be the true definition of owned.

I know, I followed the conference. You really think theres NO iphone5?

No iphone 5 yet. Uh oh. apple is doomed. 4s will mostly likely dominate Q3 anyway. The original iphone 4 has voice recognition as well and theres a dragon dictation app I use all the time.Chip and camera seems like nice upgrades but Ill wait....the 5 will come.

Android fanbois must be excited tho about this stay of execution. iphone 5 will be epic...despite your best car salesman imitations , HTC, Samsung and Motorola ("android phones") each will still be lagging in sales to apple.

I think it is awesome that iOS has the support of apps to fill in the gaps for the many things the OS cannot do natively.

Was Dragon Dictation free? Or do I even need to ask?

Who is saying Apple is doomed? But they are not going to take over the world by maintaining the exact same marketshare. Status quo is only ok if you are already the leader.

No but now that every android phone sold will be putting money into the pocket of Msft let see how long they'll keep pushing that plateform.

Samsung will be the first leaving it. They are working on their own OS, BaDa (Ocean) and they just signed a partnership with Msft for the Win8 phones. But I guess that is ok... Msft isn't as bad as Apple when it comes to shafting clients and controling stuff (Lol!).

LG as been warned by the SK gov to drop Android, and HTC is looking at WebOS.

On the Tablet front Android is pityful and even Amazon don't use it in a vanila fashion. Their fork is closed up and not compatible with third party apps available outside of amazon.

It is kinda ironic that they are making more off of Android than they are off of their own platform, LOL

Let me know when it is a fact instead of a rumor.

HTC makes Windoes phones as well, and has been for a while now. BFD.

    ...and yet, still selling....

Android is not staying stagnant in the tablet market.

Yep, by selling them at a 75% loss... And Apple still own 2/3 of the market and more than that in the corporate field. 16:9 screen are (*)(*)(*)(*) for serious business need.

Msft strategy is brilliant. Android will subsidize their own windows 8 phones! Android using company will cut into their profit to the benifit of their direct competitor... Pure genius.

HTC makes windows phone now and will make even more. They are also considering using WebOS.

So that leaves Nokia and Motorola.. Oh wait, Nokia also has a deal with Microsoft...

Well if you're a fan of android you can always get the Kindle Fire... Oooops... closed version of a fork of android...

And starting with Android 3, even Stallman says that the plateform can't be considered open anymore...

So the future of the portable devices in the end will be multiple device with closed OS after all. You didn't believe that Win 8 was an open plateform now did you?

Um...Apple used to be way ahead of Android in the smartphone market as well. How did that turn out?

I wonder if you will be here a year from now when none of your retarded predictions have panned out. Better start preparing your excuses now.

Only because, as it was pointed to you many time, you keep lumping all the android manufacturer toghetter. If you look at phone manufacturer selling smartphone, the market that we are really talking about, then Apple is ahead of any of them.

Apple already cornered the market for tablet. The big player knows this. This is why HP didn't even tried to fight. They liquidated their stock and got out. RIM is about done with the PlayBook, which incidently Amazon use the hardware from the PlayBook, but use a closed fork of Android, which will probably morphed into something else by the second iteration.

Oh, and did you know that many android phones are sold locked down just as the iPhone is. People have to JailBreak them, just like iPhone user do, to install what they want on their phone.... Scary now isn't it?

It's fun watching the fanboys squirm over the huge disappointment of the iPhone 4 S. They ALL wanted a 5 sooooo bad. Now that they have released a 4, (which actually should have a huge performance upgrade, and they finally put a decent camera in it) but only 11% of the market wants it instead of 48%.

The #1 reason I have heard for not wanting it is that "It doesn't look any different". What is the point of upgrading if no one can see your phone and see how trendy you are?

Here is my latest experience with in the phone world...

I'm a recent Apple hater. I own an iMac and and iPod, my iPod recently got damaged and when I brought it to a local Apple store they told me, after having to make an appointment at the "genius bar" and waiting for 35 minutes, they do not fix devices, but they tried to sell me a new one. My iPod was a gift and was engraved, so it has a sentimental value. I found an "aftermarket" company that specializes in fixing broken Apple products so I had it fixed for a fraction of the cost the Apple store wished to charge me for a replacement. Screw Apple!!!

Poor, poor you.. My heart bleed for you... truly sad...

    Cool story bro...

Thing is, no tech company is responsible if you break the thing. They don't have to repair it either, and for the vast majority of small devices, it is cheaper for them to scrap it and sell you another one.

I don't know about your apple store, but the one in Montreal is packed full everyday with people buying new devices or having their devices serviced under warranty. If you drop you device or scratch it, those aren't covered by the warranty. HP wouldn't have repaired it or replaced it free either.

I missed the part where he wanted it done for free.

As a matter of fact he seemed happy to pay for the repairs from a 3rd party vendor.

If your warranty is up and your battery is dead, will they replace the battery for you?

Free app. Plus like I mentioned it has basic voice command built in for some features.

Apple can just maintain market status quo in between releases as long as their history of killing it when they do release new products.

They do this despite a constant stream of new "android phones".

    Sad news about Jobs.

I wouldn't expect them to... Just like at work we don't bother calling HP or Dell or Lexmark for equipment out of waranty but instead call a third party. First it is way cheaper that way (especially with HP where a 4gig dimm for a discontinued PC can cost up to 5 time the retail price).

He did the right thing in the end by taking it to a private service center. It's the reason such place exist.

BTW, listening to multiple tech show lately (TWiT, Techzilla, etc..), I've learned that for current product, Apple employee at the Apple store have the discretionary power to replace drob, soaked or any user broken device for a fee if the people are honest about what happened. If they have a few extra refurbished device on hand the store manager may give its ok for a on the spot replacement. But you have to be honest about your story.

LOL, did he blaspheme against your religion? Is he a heretic now because he dared to criticize Apple?

Thing is, thats not such a big deal except when the company has locked up your product so much that you are REQUIRED to go through them to fix it.

If they are locking you into their walled garden, they are obligated to make sure all the plants stay watered.

LOL, guess you are on your own then eh? With Android, I dont need warranty service to replace my battery anyway. It takes me about 2 seconds.

You to know that many Android phone are sold locked and that people have to jailbreak them to do what they want with them... The same as the iPod...

By the time my battery will die I would have move on to another newer model anyway... I have my 3GS since its launch and the battery still hold the same full charge...

You're grasping at straw... As always...

And many arent. Thats kinda the point.

And even among the ones that are, some can be unlocked.

And even the locked ones are not "really" locked. I can install non-market apps to ANY Android phone I have ever used.

That is incorrect. You do not need to jailbreak any Android phone to install non-market apps to it.

...therefore it is ok that Apple restricts your choices. Yeah, I get that you are ok with the many restrictions Apple imposes on you.

All the iPhones can be unlocked. You can even buy one that is already unlocked...

And when the Android are locked they are just as locked as the iPhone are hence the need to hack them to unlock them. Some apps can't be install on locked android phones, hence the after market for hacks to unlock them.
