Regardless of the value or coherence of the law, it's the law nonetheless. There is no legal prescription for marijuana. For example, in the state of California, it is legally entitled a "letter of recommendation" not a prescription. If you don't like it, work on having your Congressman and Senator change the federal law.

My view on it is I really don't care if the law is changed. Making marijuana legal will solve some problems and create others. I don't see marijuana as being much worse than alcohol (and certainly no better), so I don't think it should be illegal, but it's not worth fighting for to me.

That is false, Medical Marijuana helps with Chemotherapy induced Nausea symptoms so patients can keep food down.

It has been proved that components of Marijuana have an effect on cancerous cells.

Marijuana is also an effective pain medication absent the side effects of opiates.

Please show the peer reviewed studies for the above. The only ones that I know of are related to the effect on cancerous cells, but they are in vitro studies, not in vivo studies.

If you wish, do some research into the benefits of Marijuana, and Cannibis extracts on various conditions, start with the side effects of Chemotherapy, ie Nausea and vomiting, and the inability to keep down solid food, the research like most illegal practices such as the Catholic Church ban on dissection of cadavers, the ban on the administration of Medical Marijuana made no sense, the research was and continues as private work.
