This kind of acid talk cannot ever be contrsuctive for civil debate.

Allowing members to openly and generally call groups of people on this forum as "racists" is and should be viewed as a personal attack, flame bait, and trolling.

Who are the "forum racists?". This thread is flame bait by and large.

It's time to start paying consequences for throwing around the "racist" term. It's used to categorize people, so that actual debate can't take place, which makes it trolling at the very least.

If your not man enough to come out and call whatever member your referring to as "racist", then you jus need to shut the hell up altogether.

This goes back to another thread discussing how calling someone outright a racist is no different then calling their post racist. There really is no difference b/w us and our posts, so why do we try to separate the 2? You can't. It's just an underhand way of outright calling someone a racist, which will never end in a pretty retort to such an accusation.

It's time to tighten the screws down on all this racist mantra crap. Just b/c someone has a differing view then you doesn't mean the person is racist and such accusations should be dealt with in an extreme penalty manner for civility's sake.

Why is racist slander when used appropriately? Its not like saying someone is a jerk which can be up for debate. You call someone a liberal or conservative because it properly describes their political beliefs, why can you not call someone a racist if their beliefs are indeed racist?

Because unlike liberal and conservative, most people don't like the idea of being a labeled a racist.

    Good point, though.

In my opinion, if it bothers them being called out on it they should refrain from making racist comments. Problem solved.

I tend to refer to some liberals as racists....because I think that is what they are. They focus so much on skin color...that nothing else matters.

And then we have forum members who acknowledge that they are racists--the true blue my race is better then theirs kind. ...and they don't mind me affirming how they already view themselves.

Then..if someone calls me a racist....well I can deal with that.

Its so over-used anymore for any reason that the term doesn't have much impact anyway.

by banning the use of "racist" to describe a post gives people carte blanche to fling about their racist comments without fear of being called on them and freely spread their ignorance and hatred with impunity...spouting racists beliefs is what discourages civility...

if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it's probably a duck ...or a racist...

Political Communities should advocate free speech. If you see something you don't like in a thread....what's stopping you from ignoring it??? 99% of the political web is flame bait. /2 cents

Suck it up, as much as I don't want to, even the racists have the right to freedom of speech. Let them exercise it, so long as they're not flamebaiting, threatening or breaking any other rules.

Just b/c in your opinion you think someone is racist doesn't actually mean they are racist.

If your that weak, right or left wing, that you can't refrain from calling someone a racist what does that say about you?

9 times out of 10 the term is thrown out around here for purely cynical and flame baiting reasons.

Y'all feel free to prove me wrong.

Same goes with "*******/contard". It's meant as an insult pure and simple.

If you can't comment like an adult in my humble opinion you shouldn't be here.

Free speech, blee speech. Everyone wants to hide behind it. Doesn't make the comments any less childish.

I am sick of seeing these terms thrown around as if they are intelligent statements.

Remember, personal insults, you can't do. But calling a group of people, is okay by the rules. So I can't call you a *******, or a racist as an insult. But I can say conservtards are stupid and Racist as a description.

That is true, according to the way most mods interpret the rules.

Try to see if there is any mod who agrees using the word racism is purely flamebait, and send your complaints to him or her directly. Good luck, though.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm heading to that thread to rep the OP.

The simple solution in my mind is not to make racist posts. Pretty easy to do for most of us... It may be more difficult for someone if they are raised in a certain type of environment.

I agree with Hat, however I see your point as well. The word is sooooo overused it's worthless here..
I still do not think a person should be called one though, to me it's name calling when you do not have any proof, it's slanderous. New people come here all the time, what would they think when they hear you called one? It's not fair, it's name calling.

Is it name calling when the text they post proves the label correct? Or is it simply calling a spade a spade?

Internet Racism is not an imminent threat; they’re actually harmless in person, but it’s the venues that turn a blind eye to them that are more harm than anything else. Keep in mind, Racist are only capable of doing what they are freely allow to do in the cloche of Freedom Speech, because the internet is the only safe place remaining for them to do their cowardly deeds. Remember, the internet has become a sanctuary for racist to express their fear of no longer being special and privileged. So they use the only vehicle afforded to them to safely express their true feelings where they know they will not get their face shoved up their colon and back out through neck. In addition, loosing of a Presidential Election to a Black Man surely didn’t help their delicate psyche and their feeling of invisibility of their legacy.

Example: Just take a look at The Civil Rights/Race Relations Section this Forum. It appears like it has been taken over by the Klan. But please don’t take my word for it, read it yourself and tell me what you think, it’s all there in Black & White. But they‘re only doing what they are allowed to do, but for heaven sakes … whatever you do, “stay on topic” … General Racist remarks are just fine, so long as you “stay on the topic”.

Do the owners and paid sponsors of this Forum want Headlines like this; No Limit NI&&A, as their selling point for a Political Discussion Forum?
Is this the low point or just the beginning?

    Funny you would say this.

So if I tell you that I'm a member of the national socialist party, is it name calling to call me a nazi? I wouldn't think so, I've already admitted as much, it's not name calling, it's simply referring to someone as they are.

Just like if I told you that white people are genetically superior, I'd expect you to call me a racist, because that would accurately describe me.

Sort of like the term ignorant, it's used often here but is only vaild once someone has demonstrated that they, in fact lack knowledge of a particular subject.

Oh well, like many other things in the TOS, this one is subjective.

Personally calling someone a racist here at the forum would be against the rules. If it's about a public figure it would be different. If it's said about a post....as in "that statement seems racist to me," that may also be permissable. It always depends on how a word is used. Most times, to call someone a racist, would be flamebaiting/insulting or trolling. It should not be done.

If someone openly - braggingly - refers to THEMSELVES as a racist on this forum, why would I be given a warning for referring to them in exactly the same way that they refer to themselves?

Also, if referring to others as racist is flaming and not allowed, then perhaps the term "non-racist" that a racist member of this forum continually tries to elevate by linking the word "non-racists" with derogatory words should be deemed flame as well.
