Hard to get yes, banned no. Anyone with a class 3 license can own a machine gun.

Yup, that's the immediate response when "violence against a 4 year old is the only answer I can think of"

    Consequences of what?
Why would one level of violent assault necessarily be enough?

It's logic like yours that is creating the generation we are dealing with now who have no clue about consequences. They are shocked when the real world hits them like a ton of bricks and then they act out.

Again, paddling is not violent assault.

I was caned twice by men much bigger than me.
It did not change me, but inculcated a hatred for those men.
I actually believe they were sexual perverts.

If someone clubs someone with the butt of a shotgun, is it also an "assault weapon?

You'd put a machine gun and AR-15 in the same category?

I was a teacher for 44 years, and never ever felt the need to assault any of the children in my care.

I'm not referring to violent assault, I'm referring to paddling. You're having a hard time with this conversation because you don't understand the difference.

The problem in allowing corporal punishment is that many teachers don't understand what it is. Example, back in the 1970's when I was in high school, one of my friends went to Catholic school where the teachers were Jesuit's. He was in class one day talking while the teacher was talking. The teacher took a ruler and slammed it down on my friends hand, breaking one of his fingers. After his dad got him home from the doctors office, he waited outside in the school parking lot for the teacher to come out, met him and beat the hell out him to "teach him a lesson" to leave the punishment duties to him or his wife.

Moral of the story is, never let anyone strike your child for any reason since they could physically hurt them.

    See above.
The issue for you is you are struggling to make an argument that can counteract what you call my logic.
Paddling (a term I only learned from Jasper in the Simpsons) is a violent assault.
It is really as simple as that, or if not why employ such a strategy at all?

of course, I do not support mass shootings

I support the 2nd more than most republicans though, I support all free Americans right to own a gun to protect their homes and families, even ex-felons that have done their time

There is obviously a difference between paddling a child and beating them.

agree, but a teacher should be doing neither - and a child can be beat with a paddle

Because paddling is not a violent assault.

2 questions for you. 1: Have you ever been paddled? 2: Have you ever been in a fight?
