The beauty of capitalism is that it is not fair. You can either make the money or not make the money, depends on how bad you want it. If I make something that is really stupid to purchase but market it as an essential, it will sell. It sells because capitalism is designed to get you rich in a multitude of ways. It's dirty, but the funny thing is, there is tons of reading material about it, at your local library. The information is there for people to learn how it works, but, people don't care, and that's why they are followers. Barack is hero because he is a 1%er as you say, he showed people you can do it, just put the effort behind it. They are not called the evil rich, they are called smart marketers. How many TV's do you own, how many cars do you own, how many cars do you want to own, do you need all the clothes in your closet, lots of nice shoes, etc? It all stuff to entice you to do one of two things, get rich and have them or get in debt and have them. Capitalism allows you to choose just which one way you are going to have those things. Read up on before you post on it, or just stick a IMO in there and it will make sense that you are not basing anything of fact.

The discussion was about how Obama made his millions. McCain made his millions by marrying into money, not taking advantage of his political pull. He's no worse off now than he was before he ran for president. In fact, he may have an advantage... nobody cares if his wife buys $2000 sundresses.

On a recent tax return, John McCain reported his $57,000 veterans pension, and nothing else, under 'other income' while his wife & childrens' trust are the largest contributors to the family's wealth. McCain didn't get rich after becoming a politician. He became rich after marrying his lovely wife Cindy.

Didn't Cindy McCain's outfit for the Convention cost $350,000 (which IMO made her look ridiculous next to Laura Bush). That's money she never lifted a finger to earn. She's benefitting hugely from the Bush tax cuts and not creating any jobs other than servants - and since Republicans believe minimum wage is too much to pay anybody for working 40 hours or more a week, we can guess how much she pays them.

You left out a whole lot of income there, didn't you - "other income" or not. He's accepting a Senate salary, Social Security, and a Navy pension and is married to an extremely wealthy woman. Do you suppose he uses any of that money to help support the family or is it just spending money for him to use as he pleases?

 

Another assumption on your part. How do you know she spent all the funds she earned as a lawyer? She might live off her husbands earnings too. Some people do, should you not know, and without being crass.
