I'm outraged at the fact she's worn it over and over and over and over again. Haven't you noticed... that's been my primary complaint. Besides the fact it looks like it came from the Sears catalog.

 

First you claim that she spends too much on her clothes.

Then you claim she doesn't spend enough.

Let's get to the nitty gritty.

How do you know she's worn it over and over again? Are you that obsessed with her that you take careful note of what she's wearing each time she appears in public and then research the cost and how many times she's worn it? I wouldn't know the sundress - or anything else she wears - if I ran over it in the street. You must spend an awful lot of time watching her and making notes of what she has on and how many times she's worn any particular thing. That seems very strange to me to tell you the truth.

Your primary complaint has actually been that she "spent $2000 for a sundress" and then you graduated to "she's worn it again and again" and now you think it may have come from the Sears catalog. As to "donating it to the Smithsonian", First Ladies donate their Inauguration gowns to the Smithsonian and if I remember correctly what she wore, it will stand up extremely well to any of the others.

I think you've ridden this one about as far as it will go.

No, I'm saying the poster who claimed she paid for the $2K dress with money she made being a lawyer was wrong. One way or another, she paid for the dress with money that came outta the taxpayer's pockets.

But as I've said several times already, it's not the price of the dress that's interesting... it's the fact she's worn it three years in a row. How tacky.

When you're employed by someone and that someone gives you a paycheck at the end of the workweek, do you consider that everything you buy is coming out of your employer's pocket? Or do you feel you earned that money by working all week and whatever you do with it is YOUR business? Obama is employed by the government (the taxpayers). He works for it and when it is paid to him, it's his money to do with as he pleases and if his wife wants to buy a dress with some of it, whose business is it other than theirs?

 

And if it's her money what is the problem? Her husband is the president, she has her own money to spend. Now President Obama has been willingly to help the poor. Is she not allowed to use her own money to buy a dress? I do believe she is and if she wants to buy a dress she can. Michelle Obama is not the president but her husband is.

This is not even an issue. Seriously.

Or she used her money. Either way EVERY PRESIDENT/First lady use taxpayer's money.

 

1) The Obama's have made MILLIONS off of books as well as their previous jobs. The President draws a salary. They can use that salary to do whatever they want.

2) I think that most Americans couldn't care less how many years she wears an outfit. I'm willing to bet that if she only wore clothes once, you'd be starting 10 more inane threads on how she wastes clothes.

Well, I think I know now where all this faux outrage about Michelle Obama comes from. Conservatives never forget a slight - Henry Hyde admitted to a journalist that Whitewater and their treatment of the Clintons was all about getting revenge for Nixon and they've frequently admitted that their treatment of Obama comes from criticism of GW while he was in office.

This article is an actual blueprint to their treatment of Michelle Obama - right down to her clothing and calling her "Marie Antoinette".
