I remember forum participants mocking Italian health last Spring when Italy was hit hard by the virus. Italians live around five years longer than Americans.

Many die from falls. No need to de-ice the walk outside the senior center...

A lot of folks don't know that they're subject to border controls if they live within 100 miles of the boundary.

In 2005, SCOTUS ruled that eminent domain could be used if the private business was going to generate more taxes than the homeowner. I'm still mad about that.

I am too. If it helps, it was the liberal wing of the court that ruled that way (Ginsburg, Souter, Stevens, Breyer, plus Kennedy), and they've been losing power fairly steadily since then.

I'm not sure how it helps. I have never said I'm against a conservative court. I'm not a liberal.

No. POTUS should be elected by majority of the popular vote of every American elector.

Then change the acronym. If we keep POTUS as an acronym the President should be elected by the states. Not debatable.

Are you a US citizen or a resident of a state subject to the laws of that state? If not, I don’t see how you can determine the “should” at all. :)

So if Hillary won in 2016, you would not approve of her taking office. Good to know.

Ok. Then I assume it was recorded somewhere in the same manner that laws are, right? I mean, that sounds pretty willy nilly especially considering how many committees have existed who have likely made similar rules.

Otherwise to not do so would make it seem like it's a rule only when someone needs it to be....

So you think a simply saying something gives it force? That's a pretty high bar your setting. I mean, the vast majority of a politicians duty is to speak. What if another guy says it's not that? Maybe they should take a vote to see if it's a rule or not. Formalize it a bit so its much clearer and easier for others to accept as something with force rather then a politicians opinion on the matter.

So I went to see what the rules are and found this

    https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/about/rules

I don't see anything in there that gives the committee chair such a broad and massive level of power.

Is there another rules section I missed?

Rule 1: 1. Meetings of the Committee may be called by the Chairman as he may deem necessary

If the Committee chair doesn't call a meeting, there is no meeting.

    ...ok.

So what does that have to do with the topic at hand?

The Chair can make the rule, and not have meetings as what Biden and Chucky said they'd do in 92 and 07 when they have they had the majority in the Senate, and the President was from another party

I think the Senate is enough advantage for small states. The President should be elected by popular vote.
    Irrelevant.

Well, I think bananas should be free on Tuesdays at the grocery store. We don’t get what we want, especially when it’s in the Constitution and there for a very good reason.
Oh it’s very relevant. I’m opposed to my country and countrymen telling other countries what to do. I’m pretty sure you are as well. What’s wrong with expecting reciprocation?

It's almost a moot conversation. The first time a democrat wins the EC without the "popular" vote, watch every single partisan switch sides on this topic, post haste.
