Do you think people are starting to realize there isn’t value in cheering the DC circus performers? I see some individuals moving from the bleachers on one side of the tent to bleachers on the other side, but not much complete abandonment of the big top. Frankly I’m a bit discouraged as this level of insanity ought to elicit mass hysterical flight towards the exits.

    You would think.

The problem is that the politicians, themselves, are intentionally keeping us divided. My entire voting life (1984,) has been nothing but panic monkey, "If you don't vote for my team, the other team will head us directly towards Armageddon!"

So far, it hasn't panned out. Republicans have been promising their base that the next D president was going to steal their guns, for decades. It's never worked out that way, yet, here we are, on this forum, with partisan republicans promising that Biden will take their guns.

Such drama queens. Partisans are the reason we can't have nice things.

"Alexander Hamilton described the Founding Fathers' view of how electors would be chosen:

A small number of persons, selected by their fellow-citizens from the general mass, will be most likely to possess the information and discernment requisite to such complicated [tasks]."

Oh yeh, I agree it’s intentional. It’s actually quite a clever way to control people while those being controlled think they are making their own decisions.

Dems so far have turned out to be responsible for massive proliferation of firearms in society. They are responsible for infringement but not a lot of confiscation, that’s true. But the combination of left and right on the issue sure gets a lot of guns and ammo purchased by the citizenry. :)

Did you hear the total disrespect for the occassion when all the most women in the crowd boo'd and turned her lying in state into a political protest when the President and first lady came to pay their respect? How disgraceful and showing they have no class.

Family gun ownership has actually dropped.

What infringement? Gun rights have expanded despite efforts by opponents to restrict the availability of firearms.

True enough. A minority of gun owners are buying a lot more weapons.

As I said it was certainly a reason but not even remotely the main one. The MAIN reason for the electoral college is actually twofold. First the founders considered pure democracy to be dangerous, which it is. But more importantly, NONE of the smaller states would have joined the union if the votes of their citizens didn’t matter. Without the electoral college, we would not have a country today.

Your grocery store comment is absurd and irrelevant.

What is the "good reason" that it's in the Constitution? Do you know how it got there is the first place? I doubt it.
You: "I’m opposed to my country and countrymen telling other countries what to do."
Yes, but we don't. How about you not lecturing people from other countries when your own country sticks its snout in other folks' business?
My guess is @Bush Lawyer has a better understanding of the legal aspects of American history than you do.

It wasn't about Trump it was about the President and First Lady paying respect and these immature petty mostly women choose to disgrace the event and turn it political. Why does the left have to turn EVERYTHING political?

What's your point? There are any number of sources, on both sides of the fight, that say the same thing.
I'm not suggesting gun rights advocates shouldn't be concerned, but the idea gun owners have lost out in the past 3+ decades is wrong.

We've lost plenty. Right-to-Carry laws are one area where we're winning. A map of legal magazine capacities would show quite the opposite, as mag bans have been spreading across the country for years now. Same with AWBs and "red flag" (punish gun owners who have committed no crime) laws.

I've realized recently that leftists generally wrap up much more of their identity into politics than right-wingers do. They turn everything political because it's oftentimes the center of their otherwise-hollow lives. That's why you see these screaming / cying leftist freak-out videos over RBG's death or HRC's loss but won't find much of anything comparable from the right when Scalia died or Romney lost.

Meh - it's utterly meaningless if cops shoot you for it. Cops are currently setting out to make Americans afraid to answer the door in the middle of the night to unknown visitors.

I think it's the cops who are trying to make the 2A meaningless. Most of my democrat friends own guns. A few have concealed carry permits.

    You said:
POTUS should be elected by majority of the popular vote of every American elector.

Hillary did not win a majority of the popular vote.
So if Hillary won in 2016, you would not approve of her taking office.

    Good to know.

It's almost as if you refuse to understand the US is not a democracy.

The electoral college is every bit as democratic as every other election you voted in.

The system hasn't changed since the 12th Amendment, and seems to only cause an issue, to Democrats, when a Democrat loses.
    Sounds like -your- problem.

Why do you refuse to understand the US isn't a democracy?

If the majority should rule - if, as you say, more people should have more "voice" than fewer people - who do you believe should have won in 1992 1996 2000 and 2016?

People should have a voice period, which the electoral college protects. It should stay, its far superior and perfectly democratic.
