So you are admitting that you did not fact check the numbers before posted this thread, right?

 

I will do that from now on. Given the other response (right before yours) I wonder how many countries are under-reporting or over-reporting. I know statistics can be used to give any impression wanted, but this can be quite overwhelming. Thanks for the point in the right direction though!

 

Why start a thread at the end of July using a link/story from the beginning of April? I know this isn't Current Events, but it's still super weird (or someone was in such a rush to post a story confirming their biases that they were blind to the finer details, like publishing dates).

 

This thread deserved a quick and painful death.

OP was factual but outdated which was my error and when I realized that I was going to withdraw the OP until I looked at current numbers which paint the same picture.
India has a huge and dense population but they still have a fraction of the Covid cases we do. Hydrox use in India may or may not be why but it's worth noting and investigating.

I still don't understand how/why some numbers are accepted as valid and some aren't. It would seem that everyone's numbers would be suspect, especially, if one believes the US numbers are being over-reported. I just don't "get" it.

Statistics, at this level, is really hard.

When you say suspect that translates into levels of confidence in a particular data set. That's going to vary all over the place, esp. in a country like India.

Z packs (Zithromax) is for the resulting infections related to pneumonia.

What's a respirator for again...oh yeah....because people's lungs are collapsing upon themselves via swelling and simultaneously filling up with fluid. Literally drowning. Lack of oxygen. That's what causes death.

My stupidass brother is a doctor. He's been saying since March they ought to be using Dexamethasone with Z packs. He didn't need to wait on a 'study' from political hacks to come to that conclusion, he studied the virus...saw what it did and figured it out. There is a lot of herd mentally with physicians. Most have been brainwashed into thinking corticosteroids are voodoo. That's why you have TV assclowns like Dr. Fakesee promoting whatever big pharma says promote. Meanwhile, several Asian countries (where the case count is lowest) have been using Dex for months. I know of someone who was in critical condition/ventilated that was put on Dex w/antibiotics and recovered in a week.

Leave it to the specialists? Tell that to all the dead people.

The minute Trump touted hydrox the machine went into gear to discredit him and it so I take these instant so called studies with a grain of salt especially with the real world experience of doctors treating the virus with hydrox being so positive.

In this era, all data regarding cases and deaths are going to be subject to margins of error because this is a widespread crisis that is brand new. Some cases will be mistakenly counted, some cases will be missed. And if it is true of cases, then it is certainly true of deaths.

The two main things that we need to consider when determining the accuracy of the reporting is the number of tests given relative to the population and the corresponding positive response rate. If the country or area is not testing enough, relative to the population, then we have to be concerned about the accuracy of the reporting. If the country is reporting a very high positive response rate to those tests, then we have to worry that they are not getting an accurate reading for the total number of infections.

In regards to deaths, we need to cross-reference the reported number of deaths against the excess deaths for those places at the same time of the year. For the most part, we are learning that the areas which are hardest hit by covid-19 are reporting deaths that both exceed the average number of deaths, from all causes, in those places and for that time of year. And that is true even AFTER you account for the covid-19 deaths. In other words, there is a significant degree of likelihood that we are undercounting the number of deaths from covid-19.

 

After reviewing the data and noticing that you made a mistake, your best statement of confidence in support of the OP thread title is that "it may or may not explain." If that's the best you can do, then yes, it is proof that you have not presented any more evidence that HCQ works.
