It's a respirator for dust particles, it's a death trap for those who think it will protect them from covid. Why do you suppose it says this on the face of the mask: "Misuse may result in sickness or death."

To give you an excuse not to wear it

For covid, it gives us all a "reason" not to wear one, not just an excuse.

An N95 is a "real" respirator. The one we're talking about is not suitable for spray painting.

N95 masks are used everyday in hospitals dealing with COVID-19. You wouldn't be saying, would you, this guy...

    EBD8633D-8E30-4ACE-96FD-E75853EA38EE.gif

... didn't use the DPA to get our health care workers better protection?

    Study up on Brownian motion:

"The size of the weave of the fabric is also not directly comparable to the size of the droplets or droplet nuclei, due to the three dimensional nature of many types of material, the indirect route taken by small particles in brownian motion, and the electrostatic effects in many materials. So if you’ve seen those claims that masks can’t possibly stop COVID-19 because the virus is too small, now you know why they’re totally wrong."

    https://www.fast.ai/2020/06/26/particle-sizes/

As I said, where I am and indoors or required to wear a mask, I use an N95 because there isn't a lot of virus in British Columbia. I don't need to wear this...

    371BA8B2-68DD-487B-BFB7-48B59B262B5D.jpeg

... and draw a lot of attention.

If It ever becomes widespread like it is in south Florida, I would go to an N100 and eye protection for close quarters.

I avoid places like bars, restaurants, and gyms that I don't need to go and where I'm more likely to be exposed. I'd rather workout in my basement, put a filet on the grill, and play golf as my sport.

We'll probably have a cure and a vaccine soon. Why be the guy who gets the comment, "Too bad about Dave [not my name]. If he had gotten the virus three months later, he would have taken [COVID-19 cure] and be sitting here at the 19th gloating about beating us again."

Too bad you appear not to understand the science behind why N95s are pretty good protection.

COVID-19 is still a significant threat to a significant portion of our population. It wouldn't hurt you to wear a mask in case you become infected.

    You: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I think we need a strategy of wearing effective PPE when we're out. If we can protect ourselves, a lot of activities can continue. If we have a long-term strategy, we can develop new types of PPE.

Vulnerable people can wear it in public most of the time while younger people can wear it when they need to cut transmission rates.

Younger people can figure out how to hook up without cruising bars or private parties.

I'm guessing that there has never been a case of covid where the victim wore a mask, masks are 100% effecting in preventing the illness?

Says the guy who barely graduated from high school.

Do you understand now why N95 ventilators provide a fair amount of protection?

If I'm only a high school graduate you should be ashamed by how much you get routinely destroyed by me.

I understand few to nobody is wearing an N95, nobody is being fitted for an N95, and the few people I've actually seen wearing them had them hanging off their noses.

Outside hospitals, of course. They're actually trained and fitted.

Right, and that's without exerting yourself.

Are you certain you had a good seal? Were you fitted for the N95 with a seal test?

N95's are useless for anyone who is not completely clean shaven as well. Even slight stubble will prevent a seal.

    Keep bleating.

You want to wear an N95? Knock yourself out. I don't care if people want to wear a mask, go ahead and be my guest.

If it keeps some toilet paper on the shelves I'm all for it.

    Millions... thankfully

Bit obviously not enough given infection rates where people resist that

Yeah it's pretty common to see people walking around in face shields.

Why pretend that people are out walking around with face shields and/or some kind of CDC space suit? Who is being fooled by that?

Too much, huh? :weed: :weed: :weed:
I've seen plenty of people wearing N95s and even N100s. You're full of it.

Do you at long last understand why N95 masks protect users against SARS-CoV-2?
    Individuals wearing masks like this...

    8EC57E72-E2D5-4B12-97F1-E43CD3879DAB.jpeg

... can check the fit themselves by covering the filters. If you can't breathe, you have a good fit.

One would think someone with a technical degree would understand the value of effective PPE in cutting transmission, and take exception to the Idiot-in-Chief not using the DPA to make it available to every American. We can develop new types of PPE better suited to different types of employment and schools.

If we cut transmission rates, people will only have to wear PPE in communities where the virus is around.
