Is that my haunting posts or my diabetes that you refer to?

What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

Good grief, so she makes a living peddling the foods she likes.
What shall we do, besides being judgmental about every aspect of another's life?
Control what one eats, drinks, smokes, thinks...oh, and lets not forget, whom one selects for the afternoon delight, where and to whom one prays or not, what disgusting things one watches on TV, or not.
C'mon people. On one hand you want people to stay out of the private lives of others, on the other hand you want to run your mouths about what one can consume.
If we want others to stay out of our sex lives, why not stay out of our kitchens as well?
BTW, I find her food choices less than desirable, but thus far, she hasn't forced me, or anyone else, to eat any of it.

To the contrary, she makes a living peddling food that is loaded with fat and calories. She then develops diabetes, keeps selling the food which in all likelihood caused her disease, and then when she gets a contract to be a spokes model for a drug company, suddenly she speaks out on the effects of her diet.

You are, of course, correc tin this matter.

I simply find it difficult to understand why folks continue to eat tehir way into disease and obesity.

I also believe her inaction on this, keeping it secret for 3 years while still showing how to cook deep fried pure cholesterol, show she is a bit less than genuine in her charms.

But some smoke, some use drugs, some engage in unsafe sex, some walk to close to the sidewalk, some mountain climb, along with professions which are rather dangerous, some sing songs about violence, or entice others to engage in less than desirable behavior.
Where do we draw the line?
    Mind control?
We can't dictate what people can peddle, and snake oil salesmen have existed prior to Ms Deen, and will exist after she's passed on, regardless of which snake oil is the fad de jour.

Oh, trust me, I have no desire to dictate what is sold and not sold. Deen is free to hock her recipes all she wants. I just find her to be disingenuous. Makes me imagine this guy selling cigarettes after he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Wayne McClaren, the Marlboro man, dead at 52.

Now seeing how the leading cause of death in this country is heart disease, I think Deen's failure to reject her folksy cooking has serious health implications is pretty screwed up.

Type 2 diabetes has a genetic link also, apparently that's being largely ignored by the OP.

Yes, and it can also be caused by eating garbage.

All we can do is educate, the rest should be left up to the individual.
I almost want to bet that, if you would air health information during the commercial breaks, or plaster every one of these 'all you can eat facilities 'with posters on DM or CAD, people would go right on eating, just as kids still get pregnant or contract STDs, perhaps even with condoms on their back pocket.
We may reach a few, but if they want to, if they really really want to, they're gonna.

So in short, what is the answer, what is the solution, if there is any?

Why is it impossible for people to eat the right foods and exercise?

I don't recall anyone saying they shouldn't. You suggested eating salads and exercising to combat or cure diabetes and it's not as simple as that.

The 'green stuff' is just part of the background......

How anyone could eat that conglomerate of nastiness is beyond me.

I could eat the egg and bacon - in fact, LOTS of bacon - but all that wrapped up in a krusty kreme donut is sickening....

Really? You don't like the healthy foods like tomatoes, cauliflower, blueberries, yogurt, avacados, etc?

I don't eat those foods either. I eat only a handful of foods, I am one of the most fussiest eaters aroound, and have been since I was a kid. I actually get bored with eating because I only have around 5 or so different meals to eat per week!

    Well, it's your body.......

One of my favorite veggies is raw cauliflower w/ranch dip. And raw carrots. When I have a family get-together, I make my own veggie tray rather than buy one - more to it.

Fresh blueberries, strawberries & banana mixed in yogurt is good and blueberries is one of the healthiest fruits b/c it's loaded w/antioxidants......

If not a BLT b/c I shouldn't overdose on bacon, I'll fix a ham, cheese, tomato & avacado sandwich - delicious.

There's a lot of good healthy foods out there........

nothing judgemental about calling out her eating habits piggish. that's the truth. she admits it herself. she's likes it "Rich"..lol

the sad part is her trying to win sympathy from her fans by announcing it.
