You might be able to add Putin to that "German" list. Putin's wife was from what used to be Prussia. She taught German at a Russian university.

German Empress of Russia Catherine the Great invited Germans to settle in Russia. Look up key word, "Volga Germans"

Russian Tsars liked marrying German princesses... including the last Tsar, Nicholas II, who married German princess Alexandra who was Queen Victoria's granddaughter. Yes, the royal house of Britain was also Germanic.
