(Support Request) unable to view posted video's.

When someone uses the tag {video=youtube;b-7U2vNvycY]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-7U2vNvycY[/video}, for example all I see is a black screen. If they change it to {video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-7U2vNvycY[/video} removing the =youtube;b-7U2vNvycY from it I can view it fine. Replace the {} with [] to make the links work again.

Is there a switch I should switch to view the video=whatever versions of the links?

I use Firefox as browser, could it be my browser?




Weird, someone just posted video link {video=youtube;LhB0G-k3Y2k]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhB0G-k3Y2k[/video} and I can view it just fine. So I don't understand what makes those black square boxes on the ones I can't view any different. On them I have to get rid of the =whatever after video to make the link work for me in a reply.

 

It's been so long since I posted a video and I was confused when they changed it on youtube. I think you just copy this part:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v I was told to not include anything after the = sign. Now I need to go there to confirm this.

Okay, if you use youtube, there are words below the video on the right. They are kind of faint. The first is "about", then "share". Click on share then copy it.

On this page go to the icons above and choose "video" and paste the code it. Then hit reply and it will appear on your post.

It changed again since the last time I copied a video.

The examples I used that I can't view as anything other than black boxes are viewed by the ones who posted them and others just fine. So is it my browser or my settings that are the issue?

 

The words under the video are real hard to see. You can overlook them and that's why I had to really look for the link. Look again. Yes, its a black background but the words are just about an inch down on the right of the video. Like I said the first says about.

Are you signed in or just going to the site. When I just went to the site I couldn't find a way. When I signed in then they appeared.

It may be a mistake to use { in any place within video tags and you should use [ instead and video codes are automatically generated by clicking on the 'Insert Video' icon and copying and pasting your video URL within the box that pops up and there is no need to type them in manually.

I noticed a difference if you are signed in or not. I saw no "insert video" place when I wasn't signed in either. I am confused at what you are saying. The way I did it was easy.

I'm talking about how other peoples posted videos look to me inside this forum. If they use video= I usually get a black screen and can't watch the video without replying and altering the link. If it's straight {video} tag then it is easily viewable by myself withing their post.

So is it a problem with my browser or the settings I have set on this site?

 

I used { so you could see the link if I used [ you would only see the video and not know what I was talking about. I did say in the context of my post to substitute [ for { to see the video.

 

Then it's likely to be a browser problem and Firefox sometimes has issues with displaying Flash videos.

Just checked the am I updated page and I am. But you may be right it might be a browser issue. Maybe they'll fix it in a future update.

 

Sorry Sly, I think it must be in your flash player or whatever program you use. You might want to go to your settings here and see if there is something you need to do but honestly, I am lost.

I don't see how the browser would be the problem. Maybe other members can chime in and help us out.

I am having the same problem as well. youtube videos are just black boxes most of the time.

 

Cenydd and I are having the same problem. Its something else to add to the 'to do list' then.

Maybe it's everyone that uses Firefox as their browser? Or something similar?

 

I think it is FireFox. I believe the latest versions do not support Flash anymore as it is going away. I can't see them under Vista or Windows 8 on two different systems using FireFox but can using Chrome.

 

So nothing we can update, only change over to Chrome? Argh....

I to get the black boxes and use firefox, I only seem to have this problem on this site however. Ive found if i refresh the page with the black boxes viewable on my screen (ie not ones i have to scroll further up or down to see on that same page), it makes them viewable.

 

The Firefox problem seems to be only peculiar to this site and I checked two other forums' music threads and YouTube videos show up normally on those sites using Firefox and the blame is more on this site than Firefox and as Jackster pointed out above, refreshing the page is a simple solution and I only use Chrome for forum posting because it's faster than Firefox.

It seems to come and go. Let me ask again, perhaps something can be tweaked.
