    I think it's the person posting without using the built-in vBulletin VIDEO code. When posting a youtube video, it should look like this:

    without the spaces (I added the spaces so it didn't try and display the video.)

    If that's not the issue, then I think it's the browser settings of whoever posted the video. Especially if they are using Internet Explorer browser or some less common browser.

    I was able to post a video in Chrome then go view it in Chrome, Firefox, IE. I was able to quote my video post, and I could still view it in all three browsers.

    I was also able to post a video from my IE and view it in IE and Chrome.

    So the problem seems limited.

    It could also have to do with the specific video, or some kind of transient problem with your ISP reaching youtube.

    If I was given more information, I might be able to help further, but I'm no expert on browsers and youtube.

    Videos I couldn't see but only saw a black box contained the ;1234567 clause in it. However after I replied and deleted that part of the link I was then able to view the video within my reply post.

    I originally posted it without the built-in vBulletin VIDEO code, and Johnnymo could see the vid. Somehow it converted and showed a black box.
    I just now took the built-in vBulletin VIDEO code back out, and the vid is visible to me once again, solely done with an updated version of FF.

    edit...
    as soon as I finished this post, the one prior converted back to the built-in vBulletin VIDEO code, and once more the black box appeared.

    I have the same problem and only here. If I refresh I can see it, but that is kind of a pain to keep doing that.

    Ok, so we tried a few things, and from my end, I changed browsers and updated my Adobe.
    Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the latest site update left some residual incompatibility with FF, whereas Chrome and IE are working well, because I have no video problems with either.

    I posted a video in a thread and could see it fine until a few hours later when I revisited the thread and it was a black box again. I use Firefox. Hopefully this will correct itself shortly on a future update of either the site or FF because I'm not changing browsers.

    I never have used firefox but it sounds like a problem on our site posting Youtube videos. I don't even use chrome. I am a bit old fashioned but I have no problems seeing any videos here.

    Anyways,

    Happy New Years forum members.

    I can guarantee it is not Firefox because I use that browser and have no problems viewing video's anywhere else. So, it is some glitch here, sorry to say.

    That's what I mean. Before the upgrade, i didn't have a problem with FF. So the new version here must have some sort of incompatibility.
    Might take a while to get to the bottom of it. I went back and forth between several browsers yesterday, adjusted here and there, couldn't come up with anything worthwhile.
    Perhaps it would help to know which specific settings members have with their browser, i.e. block or restrictive settings.

    Just a few moments ago, I noticed that the youtube videos were no longer visible. Now, I see the following...

    *they will open in a new window*

    *EDIT* Update... just checked with another PC using a different browser (FF), and can view the videos without opening a new window. Apparently it is an IE issue. **sigh**

    ...it's odd that it just appeared.

    Any ideas?

    ~~~~~~~
    Edit again lol ... Now they are viewable with IE again. Weird!
    But all is now good. :thumbsup:
    We have no idea what's happening with this, and several of us have spent many hours on different computers, different OSs, different browsers, and different versions of those browsers, trying to replicate this issue, and we have never been able to consistently do so. The best we've been able to do is establish that it does seem to be specific to IE, but does not seem to have anything to do with which version, and is intermittent even on the computers on which we have been able to replicate it. I've tried to find information about it on other vBulletin sites, and while I've succeeded in establishing that we're not the only board having the problem, I haven't yet been able to find any other board that's figured out a solution.
    One thing I have noticed is that if I'm getting the black box instead of the video, clicking on the box seems to bring it up. But that's only worked once. It was the only time I tried it, but still, a pretty small sample size. I wish I could tell you more, but we're just stumped. Sorry! As soon as we find out what the deal is, we'll post it here, but until then, I think we're stuck with it.
    Hi WB.
    Honestly, this is the first time I have seen it. And it lasted only a few minutes, before returning to normal.
    The glitch appeared in IE9, but is perfectly fine now. I didn't reboot, log out and return or anything. They just appeared again after 15 minutes or so.
    *shrugs*
    PS. I've never seen the "black box," only the above quote tonight.
    Thank you for the prompt response, just the same. :thumbsup:
    Oh, you''re more than welcome - I just wish we had something better we could tell people. It's one of those things where I almost wish it happened more often, so we could collect more information. It's bugging the heck out of me that we can't figure it out. Thanks for your patience and understanding, though!
    lol,
    Things like that bug me too!
    I do agree, (whatever it is) it seems to be an IE issue.
    Oh well..........................
    best regards
    I think one user uninstalled their Java and reinstalled a new version of Java, to get it working in IE. They may have also upgraded IE, though. I'm sure that wouldn't work for everyone, but it's something you might try.
    It can also possibly be related to Adobe Flash or various browser settings.
    I've suspected for a while that it might have something to do with a conflict between Flash and IE, but don't have anything to hang that on but a gut feeling. They release so many updates to both Fllash and java that it's hard to keep track of.
