Again, my retorts to your points are presented in the body of your latest effort.

I point again to the Dutch intelligent lockdown approach that closed many restaurants, all pubs and coffee shops but left retail totally open and allowed for controlled and intentional exposure. That was a success.

You say you know the herd immunity model will leave tens of millions dead and this tells me you are ill informed and way too emotional for me to consider enabling you further with my attention. It also wastes my time which is my greatest resource.

I wish you the best, son!

As for Trump, my general impression is they knew exactly what was about to happen and a decision was made to purposefully downplay it in public while they were freaking out behind the scenes because people freaking out on both sides of the podium would have only made the bad situation worse. Fauci has already acknowledged that the advice early on about masks was basically made because there was such a short supply of them the medical community would have been even more devastated if 300,000,000 more people were in the market for them. They knew about the testing problem which is why they started in early February trying to come up with a new test that could be used nationally.

Anyway, I am not confident we have even begun to take the steps to be better prepared for the next pandemic. Other than about to top off the ventilator stockpile, I have seen or heard nothing to suggest that the medical community has done anything to expand the capacity to deal with any new outbreak of some new novel infection while they are still busy battling the current one. Maybe in time people will realize we need more than a few research labs and 1 hospital-facing lab in Atlanta to deal with these things. .

My view is that nature is always craftier than any species and that microorganisms will always win in a head to head struggle and that microorganisms are the last remaining predator to human beings whose numbers already exceed their capacity to fix the problems they have created.

The blame shifting to any leader is a present moment activity that forestalls the full realization of this.

Stay healthy and allow the exposure. No species does well without predators.

And how can anyone hide from things they can’t even see?

The virus is going to find you eventually.

Thank God, this virus is a weak one.

What a condescending piece of tripe. It has been noted before that condescension is the last resort to save face. Sorry, I don't buy into it. Did you know I had my 3rd Phd, Illinois, Harvard and London School of Economics, passed the bar and medical boards all by the time I was 22?

You are probably right. Obama showed how to do it albeit with a much lethal illness. He got people active and participating. Didn't lie to them. Certainly didn't make up stuff and let the doctors and scientist have the lead while he covered their backs. He set a good example and made no false promises. When the vaccine became available he encouraged the most vulnerable, pregnant women and children, to get it while emphasizing it was not mandatory. When it was widely available he himself was vaccinated on camera.

Seems like, as per another thread in this forum, that Obama tried to replenish the stockpile but the then Tea Party and the Republican majority in the House stopped him because they were concerned about governmental spending.

"The medical community" can't do much to fix this; they are busy enough dealing with the consequences of political idiocy. It's the political class that needs to allocate resources.

Obama ordered a bunch of low cost ventilators that required a complete redesign to meet the price point of somewhere around $3500 each that were not due to be delivered until 2021 that got pushed back until 2022 because the redesign had not been completed and approved.

Donald Trump's administration has confirmed that Trump has been wildly inaccurate when he has claimed he inherited "no ventilators" from the Obama administration.

Ventilator figures released for the first time by the Department of Health and Human Services this week definitively debunk Trump's narrative about how his team was left "empty cupboards" in the national stockpile.

A spokesperson for the department said there were 16,660 ventilators available in the stockpile in March for immediate use -- far more than the 10,760 ventilators the Trump administration has actually ended up distributing during the coronavirus pandemic as of Tuesday.

Trump told the states to shut down, the states were following the Trump guidelines

Thanks for sharing this. I think people, in general, don't want to think about having to make that kind of choice and don't want to understand why others have to make it. How many others are going to work when they are concerned they may be infected? Unlike politicians, we can't just vote ourselves pay raises and take days/weeks off at a time. They just have no concept of what it's really like out in the trenches.

I hope your test comes back negative and you start to feel better soon.

And? Ventilators are actually now being considered to be a minor part of the needed response, as they seem to be more harmful than helpful to critical COVID-19 patients, whose lung pathology is endothelial rather than the viral pneumonia that is seen in other ARDS-causing viruses.

This is despicable. Sorry to hear about it.

Uh wait, are you under the impression that Biden is responsible for any of this, or is to be blamed for empty advice? Biden is not the president (yet). He currently holds no elected office. All he can do is speak about stuff but he is not responsible. If/when he becomes president, then blame him if things go wrong. Me, I think it's hard to think that things would be any worse than now, so, it's a low bar for him.

Yes, American workers need a lot more protection and support during this pandemic than what they've been given by Congress and the White House.

And kindly don't ask questions about them and then pretend like it doesn't matter when I respond. It is a pointless waste of time.

Still very much needed is the inflammatory response does not responde to corticosteroids but we are using HFNP more and more. We have never really wanted to rely on invasive ventilation as a first strategy

People are working sick. All over the place. Probably for the same reason I am. If you acquired the "skills" to be able to work from home: good on yah. But as someone who has to get out in this crap to live, I'm sick of your mandates and derision. I really hope that one day we find the true numbers of Covid infections of blue vs white collar workers. Because I can't help but feel workers are getting the shaft here. Especially when I hear stuff from teachers/professors like "we are striking; it's not safe!" Wait, I have to get out and mix it up with people to ship this guy his gaming chair, or makeup, or a dildo, but you're somehow better than me and shouldn't be forced to teach our children. It's all a big joke.

Really? Please kindly link to the post of mine in this thread in which I was asking a question about ventilators. I only mentioned PPE. Are you under the impression that a ventilator is a PPE? You are the one who introduced ventilators. Maybe you're mixing up respirators (which are PPE) with ventilators (which are not).

Talking about a pointless waste of time: that would be an effort to locate a post of mine here asking questions about ventilators since there isn't one. But be my guest; try it if you want.
