Scrolling down there is a table of the vaccination rates by state and then a chart indicating that it will be November before we reach the MINIMUM threshhold of 70% for herd immunity assuming that the CURRENT rate does NOT decline any further.

At 52% we are NOT in a good place to ASSUME that there will NOT be any further surges.

Looking back at what happened at this time last year we saw people resuming activities without masks and social distancing followed by the Summer surge and then the massive Fall/Winter surge.

Granted half the population is now vaccinated but that is no guarantee that they are immune from the Delta variant or any other variant that might occur while the virus is still circulating among the unprotected half of the population.

My concern is complacency setting us up for another surge in the Fall. The virus has not been eliminated and we have all witnessed what happens when everything was opened up prematurely.

It is my since hope that I am WRONG about this and if I am I will be only too happy to admit that I was for the sake of everyone who will be spared.

OTOH if only a part of my concern becomes reality there are going to be more unnecessary deaths.

The vaccination rate in My county and the surrounding counties has stalled at 50% and we have a steady weekly number of new cases. Most new cases are under 50.
County is 100% open and nobody cares about C19.

 

For Stat, bro, my count has around 30 cases each week, sounds small, but it is just around 25000 people, so the weekly rate per 100k is 120.
That has been the steady number since more than 4 weeks, in Germany it would be panic time. Here nobody cares. Once everyday the helicopter flies to Grand Junction, the Covid bomber, we do not have the ICU beds with ventilators, nobody cares. Its even a no issue in the local paper. The Carnival and Rodeo make the head lines ( Cortez Journal ), or demolition derby.
That is the attitude.
With that and the new variances, we will never get it solved. Steady 120.
I am sure that I have pressed, coerced and convinced all my employees and my friends into getting vaccinated. We do not have to worry and if there is a new one which bioNtech does not cover, we get the booster, like the annual flue shot.

The bolded: this is absolutely true. In each province in Germany, there are strict guidelines for how many people can meet, mostly still with masks, but things are now starting to open up. In Bonn, the incidence-rate has fallen from 300 per 100 K in May to 33 per 100 K right now. In most parts of NRW, it's now 10 per 100 K and at least four smaller towns in my area are now at incidence rate ZERO. There is no doubt that Covid is drying up in most parts of Europe.

I hate to be cruel about this, but the utter stupidity of some people is simply going to kill them and as of this point in time, I am tired of carrying them on my shoulders. Pfft, if they die because of their love for dear Leader Trump (who is vaccinated, to note), well then, that's their choice. If they don't know how to inform themselves after 16 ****ing months of this misery, then it's their own fault. Indeed, Darwin is revving up his karma machine right now. In no other land in the world is it so easy to get a safe, effective vccine than in the USA and here we have these crazy assed anti-vaxxers, who amazingly, on a Venn diagram, intersect perfectly with the unpatriotic, criminal, seditious, murderous, anti-democratic MAGA nazi brown-slime crowd out there, who are trying to gum up the works.

I got my first shot (Biontech) on 2021-06-001, my 2nd shot is on next Tuesday, 2021-06-022. Germany has made it, as of this Monday, considerably easier for people to not have to carry papers over their C19 status with them: they now have the electronic vaccination passport. It's really simple: you copy (or scan) the title page and then the page from the yellow paper vaccination book showing your vaccination(s) and bring it/email it to a pharmacy, where they give you a confirmation certificate with a QR code. Using a Covid-19 app or a vaccination app (both from the Robert Koch Institute), you scan the QR code and then your vaccination status is permanently stored with an enormously long encryption code on the device. This means that as of July 6th, 2021, exactly 2 weeks after my 2nd shot in the arm, I will then legally be completely protected and can go to any mass events in the future without having to wear a mask. But since I plan to attend some events with my teenage daughter, who is not vaccinated, I will still be wearing a mask in most cases, to keep the good example going for her. And in winter, when cold/flu season hits, I will probably still wear a mask more often, since I never once caught a cold in the winter of 2020-2021.

But to be brutally honest, it's a little like the Hunger Games in Germany right now getting a vaccine. I got a call on a Saturday night, 11 PM, from my new eye-doctor (yes, eye-doctor), that a slot had opened up on 2021-06-001, 11 AM. So, I get there are 10:15, first get my shot at 13:00, but it was worth the wait. A certain amount of paperwork, lots of waiting and then 5 seconds for "pieks-pieks". LOL.

If y'all go to the online tracking tables (my sigfile), I think you will be able to see with your own eyes where Covid-19 cases are drying up and where they are advancing.

In the majority of European nations, +cases are now under +1,000 per day in: Italy, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Czechia, the Netherlands, Romania, Belgium, Portugal (although Portugal also suddenly had some days over +1,000, it must be said), Hungary, Serbia, Austria, Greece, Croatia, Denmark, Ireland, Slovenia, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finnland, Norway, Crete, Lichtenstein.

Spain is hovering at about +3,000 per day, France at about +2,400. the UK is moving upward, with about +9,200 per day on the average. However, UK's +deaths are still very, very low. Russia is in the middle of a surge, most all of it in Moscow, and that surge has not leaked over to either Byelorußland or Ukraine.

Overall, in Europe, the prognosis: Covid-19 is drying out.

In North America, in both Canada and the USA, Covid-19 is really drying out in a major way. Mexico is kind of limping along with an average of +3,300 cases per day, tendency: slightly rising.

The few African nations in my tracking show a mixed picture: in Morocco, it's about +400 per day, but seriously, it's been between +300 and +500 ever since I started tracking that nation. However, South Africa is taking a hit: it has gone from an average of +3,500 per day one month ago to over +10,000 per day now and actually had between +11,000-13,500 in all of the last five days. Something is up in South Africa, and it is not good. To be fair, the testing average is also up there as well.

In South America, this is where most of the negative action is: Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and as of late, Paraguay. The month of June 2021 will be seen in history for the the tapering off of the wave in India and the rise of Covid-19 in South America, obviously now THE epicenter of the pandemic that is drying out in most quarters of the world. And of course, the massive success against Covid-19 in both the USA, Canada and a wolfspack of European nations.

Speaking of India, the rest of Asia is doing pretty well, except Japan that is kind of limping along ala Mexico and then there is Indonesia (from +5,000 one month ago to +11,000 now). Fortunately, Malaysia is now on the reverse track and having less cases and deaths, also Nepal.

So, the long and short of this is: keep your eyes on a number of South American nations, also on Indonesia and of course, Russia, which is having a surge. The rest is looking very good at this time.

As I mentioned before the new highly infectious Delta variant was a threat to states with low vaccination rates and now it appears as though the data is backing that up.

The worst part of this is that it is completely UNNECESSARY!

We have the VACCINES and they WORK!

The harm caused in those Red States will be entirely SELF INFLICTED.

This is absolutely spot-on. All I am saying is that at this time, there is statistically no sign of a surge whatsoever in the USA and the statistics look radically different this time than they did after Memorial Day 2020.

 

We agree!

I strongly suspect that the OVERALL statistics are hiding the Delta Surge because Blue states have declining rates while Red States have increasing rates thereby giving the impression that there is no sign of any surge.

So yes, the current statistics do look different to all prior surges in that they show no signs that there is one in progress.

Perhaps a better term to use is a "stealth surge" that will not show up on the overall statistics.

It should be noted, sadly, that for the 1st time in its COVID-19 history, the country of Brazil has recorded more than +100,000 fresh C19 infection in one day. Brazil came close to the +100,000 mark twice in the last 2 weeks, but did not go over it. Today, it did and currently stands at +113,342.

Brazil literally has more than twice as many cases as India day. Yes, the same India that was recording as many as +400,000 daily cases just 6 weeks ago.

 

On a personal note, I received my second C-19 vaccination yesterday, 2021-06-022 (BioNTech / Pfizer). The first time around, on 2021-06-001, I had almost no side effects, but this time around, I had just a bevy of them, everything from my blood pressure dropping immediately into the cellar to a continually weird metallic taste in my mouth to tinnitus in one ear and then in the other to short-term blurred vision to muscle cramps and wildly itching feet to unbelievable tiredness and incredibly sore joints (knees, elbows) to (ähm) unexpected erections and the sudden inability to concentrate. Also, I couldn't find my keys four times today. The keys were, get this, in my pocket. This BioNTech stuff was really different the second time around.



According to German Law (and it is also emblazoned in my electronic vaccination passport), as of 2021-07-007 I am then fully protected and technically speaking, won't need to wear a mask anywhere.
