Nothing you said here is a defense of the violent teachings of Islam but is rather a common smoke bomb deflection favored by both Western liberals and Muslims.

And no, he was not a Christian.

    I'm not a Christian.

Why does speaking frankly of what Islam teaches and thus inspires in the violent behaviors of so many Muslims throughout history "hating their guts"?

You seem more concerned about an emotion you think I have rather than the facts of the situation. Are you a liberal?

Crying "hate" at critics of Islam is not a defense of Islam.

Muhammad declared open-ended war against unbelievers and told his followers he was commanded to "fight" until people convert or pay the jizya submissively.

Help yourself and read about the battle of Tabuk.

I nearly converted to it. I was raised and continue to be agnostic.

People with no clue about Islam defer to the apologetic stance because they don't want to risk offending about something they know not about - its to be expected, and probably a safe thing for everyone to do (to some extent).

But they should realize they are doing it and not get dragged into the argument to the extent that they start defending something they know nothing about LOL

Reality, is given the history and practises of Islam, it is on the moderate muslim adherents to make an exaggerated effort to denounce like a jihad the extremist views, and ideally remove the offending material entirely. Currently they just be polite, distance themselves, perhaps help authorities when they feel compelled, but ignore the endemic problems in the teachings they themselves follow - problem is as long as its integral to the teachings, others will choose not to ignore it. That means the moderate muslims are part of the problem, by 'keeping' the fire burning which lights the fires of the extremists.

    Fair enough.

No I'm afraid I can't separate out people who fear the same god as not belonging to the same religion. Even if their concepts/actions end up in a different places and some of them also have other social or mental problems.

Exactly. Just like your Muslim buddies coming out and saying they represent Muslim communities. :clapping:

I applaud the Muslims in the UK demonstrating against violence, but seriously not sure of their sincerity or conviction. Considering one of the signs said: "Islam promotes human rights".

We all know Islam certainly does NOT promote human rights for women or gay people, so anyone would seriously have to question the sincerity of that demonstration.
