I'm Catholic, I still enjoy all types of secular music. There are good Christian rock bands too, by the way. Also many of the classical composers wrote religious music...religious themed music is not always "boring." I'm sure you've heard of J.S. Bach? A devout Lutheran, and a musical genius on a whole other level of us mere mortals.

actually, we do want proof. but you guys insist on not providing any for your outlandish claims. here's the thing - you need to imagine we 'don't want proof', because we actually want proof, whereas you don't/didn't. your own lack of demand for proof has been twisted (in your mind) into something like a 'search for truth', which implies the noble seeking of hard facts. since we reject 'feelings' as proof (because they ain't), you are then able to imagine that we reject proof. it's a neat but obvious trick you play on yourself. essential to the support of outrageous falsehoods in the modern world.

...then you reject all offers of proof...

This has nothing to do with whether a Rock Band is Christian or not as I have yet to listen to a single self proclaimed Christian Rock Band who's music I did not absolutely despise.

Such bands tend to incorporate a specific chord progression within their songs usually used as the main chorus and such a progression tends to be by design the place in the song where avid Christian Rock Fans will spread their arms out high and wide which results in a change of blood flow to the brain and that results in giving the individual doing it a light headed euphoric feeling which most Christian Rock Fans claim is Jesus. the Holy Spirit and GOD entering their body.

Head Banger's get a similar more concentrated felling but at least they know the reason for it.

as part of my edumacation, I studied trance and group hysteria (yay). it's as old as the hills, and VERY easy to model in the lab - even with hardarsed science geeks :p

point is it takes very little to induce a trance like state in an individual (repeated chords, drums, rhythmic mantras, yada yada), but when you add a crowd, the effect is magnified hugely. we've been it doing since we started yelping in supplication at cave bear skulls. some of our number were lucky enough to live in places where hallucinogenic plants thrived, and these were added to the mix.

calling it jesus is deeply hilarious, in the context of the vast reaches of human history :p

    Good Catch!!

I forgot about the added issue of a crowd.

It is human nature for a person who is in a large group after hearing from another that if they were to look just past a group of trees they could see a giant 300 Foot Tall Pink Elephant....to say..."YEAH!! I SEE IT TOO!! LOL!!

Did you ever visit the pyramids in egypt?

What's an "effigy"? I've heard that word before, but I'm not sure what it means.

when the CROWD swears there's a giant pink ephalent in the trees, it's a pretty sure bet that others will suddenly 'see' it. we're such pack animals, we is :D

I suppose it's not that hilarious to call the effect 'jesus', when you consider how many different and whacky things it's been called over the millennia. One of the research thingies I was involved in was visiting Pentecostal 'happy clapper' type churches. These 'events' alternated between seriously creepy and so funny I had to leave to LOL. The interesting thing is that the creepy element was virtually indistinguishable from the trance-states and warblings seen in occultists, voodoo practitioners, and a variety of shaman-based rituals. Like a wandering demon, looking for fun/trouble, is going to say no to a room full of hungry-for-a-sign gullibles :D

An effigy is a doll made to look like or represent someone. Sometimes, it's burned to show extreme dislike of a target.

I was too bust to take a tour but the Pyramids are HUGE....it's not like you can't see them from 50 miles away!

Effigy....is a construct of materials to represent a person...such as a Voodoo Doll....or Think....such as a small statue of a building.....that is used to represent that person or thing..

Not always specific to the black arts...often the white arts use effigies so does Christianity with the Cross.
