When is the site gonna be fixed???

Tend your garden.

Write a short story.

Play charades with your family.

Volunteer at a nursing home.

Take a walk down the Appallachian Trial.

Make love to a beautiful women.

Eat surf 'n turf at a fancy restaurant.

Plant a tree.

Visit an estate sale.

Dance.

Stop by a petting zoo.

Call your mother.

Go for a swim.

Purchase some flowers.

Give them to someone you care about.

Straighten up your house.

Watch a movie.

These are just a few possible things better than complaining you could be doing while you wait for the page to load.

 

Joker, you must be joking. I've just ravaged some people in a thread up top because I'm sick of getting in here, checking out a few threads and then being locked out by thread 5.

I went out, came back, read a thread, was kicked out just changing pages. Got back, read another bit of the thread, out, back eventually, clicked on any post and ravaged a rightie. Same again. Kicked out, ravaged another...kicked out...

I'm going now. It's pointless trying to post when it's like this.

 

Aaaaaa...kicked out again already. In the middle of making a post, the washing machine started churning and I got so annoyed I abandoned post.

 

Hah, when you think you got it bad, got up to 10 notifications on the same post last week, now its up to 84.
No time to tend a garden or let a washer annoy me. Must delete EM notifications. Its a wild ride I tell ya.

 

Same thing here... plus the dreaded DATABASE ERROR about 15 min ago.

Anybody considered a new firewall if these probs are caused outside the server? Site seems very unstable.

 

Actually it started pointing me to new posts again today, like it's supposed too. Now it's lagging like hell though

I think that the incredible banality and interminable stupidity of so many of the threads is way more likely to drive people away than any technical glitches.
A faster server would only encourage even more mindless, illiterate drivel from the usual gang of idiots.
Perhaps if people thought more and posted less, the site would be more functional, both literally and figuratively.

 

While I find the idea of letting the board go to the birds in an effort to improve the quality of the board to be, uhh, a novel approach to say the least, I would suggest that the actual problem be tracked down and fixed if possible.

If you're talking to me, I think you got it backward.
Anything that limits the endless diarrhea of idiotic threads would be an improvement, even if that means a slower site.
It's not like we are missing out on anything important.

Viv, if you knew anything about England, you would know about Newquay and the Cornwall coast.
Wet suits are also commonly used there, although having grown up in the tropics, I much prefer to surf in the warm waters of Florida where I spend my summers.

But, as to the topic, what's really insane is the rabid hatemongering and congenital stupidity seen on display in so many forum threads, and my opinion that if a slow server limits the ability of idiots further spam the site with asinine, illiterate threads, then maybe it's not such a problem.

I have no problem posting here, but then I am not obsessed with arguing interminably with idiots to make myself feel better.
People who find the site too slow could post less or go elsewhere. It would certainly improve the site to have more thoughtful people rather than a bunch of impatient guttersnipes who get apoplectic if their latest rant gets lost in the ether.

 

Like I said, insisting that the board remain in a degraded state in an effort to improve the board is a novel approach, however, you seem to be in an extreme minority in that viewpoint. I would suggest the owner of the board actually look into what is causing the problem and remedy such if at all possible.

Well the server is only one problem with this site. Extremely biased administration is another serious flaw.

Wetsuits are a prerequisite here. Is Florida ok to swim after that eco disaster? No doubt I'm showing ignorance of where that happened as well, but thought it might be affected by that.

They cannot see themselves as others see them. And as there are so many sharing these hate filled opinions, the presence of a group justifies the existence of the mentality, in their eyes.

This is quite vituperous, Joe. Most people do post elsewhere. This site has many good points though and many decent people, who do think before posting.

Perhaps you don't use the site enough to have suffered the vagaries of the system and become frustrated by them.

I agree, I have been at my home board most the evening because of the lock ups here.

 

Pointers are screwed up again. It does point to the most currently unread posts anymore and I keep turning up in the same part of the thread having to scroll through everything to find the new post. Wierd the lag stopped when the pointer problem started and visa versa.
