Funny how they require photo ID to get into the DNC convention though.

I wonder if they'll erect walls around it this year.

He is not the one making changes and I hope you and I don't care what Trump thinks. When all is said and done and we have our elderly sex offender with trouble speaking in office, I just want to feel that it was done fairly. I don't want months of legal battles and this move is a gift for Trump.

Perhaps I gave too much credit for reasonable thinking. I have no issue with those who wish to vote absentee; my only issue was the government making that decision on my behalf. Is that clear enough?

You are incorrect. There is a long list of reasons and while some are discussing them, others are pretending they don't exist.

No one has ever checked my sig when I voted in person. There was no example of my sig for them to check!

Then your signature is on file and is compared, either based on your voter registration card or your DMV signature.

I don't see how. After my ballot is fed into the scanner, how can they verify my sig afterwards?

Your sig is typically compared either by hand or with the scanner (for mail-in) or by hand when you show up to vote (in-person).

They have never had a sample of my sig when I signed. My sig on file with the DMV is old and looks nothing like by current one.

It looks something like the current one because, unless you have deliberately altered it, that's now signatures work. And, yes, the volunteers at the polling stations do compare your sig. Take to a volunteer and ask them.

So a human is of the opinion that there is a mismatch and rejects it. I receive no notice and have to blindly trust that humans judgement and honesty.

Playing devils advocate, one can assume political affiliation by city and easily skew results. Every hand that touches my ballot before hitting the scanner is attached to a human.

You should really try talking to one of the polling volunteers. They don't get to know how you vote. The signature matching is independent of that. Yes, there can be human error. That's going to happen when humans vote.

I am not as concerned about human error as I am human bias. It is easy to predict how people vote based on their address. Thats why district lines make odd shapes.

He wants an excuse to declare the election invalid.

Then, like every other dictator that does elections, he'll set one up that will give him 90% of the votes.

And that would be easy to detect. And if you were correct, our entire voting system, regardless of in-person or mail-in, would be a giant fraud in every way. There's no evidence of that.

Not even close. When I feed my own ballot into the scanner, I know it went through. Those whose mail in ballots are rejected or trashed, never know.

Why don't we fund rge postal service and let the chips fall where they may.I'm all for making it easier for Americans to vote instead of more difficult. How about a national holiday on election day?

No one is proposing making it more difficult. Voting is never easy for those of us who research every judge, prop, and every candidate for every elected position.

I suppose closing schools would suppress the votes of parents with young children. I don't see that as a benefit.

As opposed to what a true leader should do. Look down the road for potential problems and head them off at the pass. Recognizing the pandemic will create problems for people getting out and voting, he should have been shoring up the USPS to ensure they could accommodate the increase in mail in votes. But no, instead, he installs one of his toadies with zero experience in the industry and allows him to ravage the system. And now, he can point the finger of blame at the USPS for
This isn't a problem that occurred overnight. He's had months to shore up the USPS to ensure that all Americans can vote - but he's chosen, instead, to facilitate it's decline rather than improvement. He complains that the Dems included money in the stimulous bill for USPS, but no one questions his wanting money for the FBI building in the stimulous bill? At least the USPS money is tied to the pandemic issues...

Mnuchin and Meadows agreed to more money for USPS in negotiations with the Dems. A LOT of Republicans vote by mail, and Republicans in Congress and out are quietly asking Trump to back away from the crazy.

Exactly, and those efforts have been going on since Bill Clinton's administration. Those efforts through several administrations to the present are fascist in nature.
