The will of the " people" supports stronger gun control laws. And if we are going to govern based on public opinion the Trump tax giveaway to the rich will not happen.
Where is the evidence that those who legally own firearms are the ones responsible for the greatest loss of life, rather than those who cannot legally possess firearms under any circumstances? The FBI has reported that eighty percent of all firearm-related murders are committed by known criminal individuals.
Then why did "the people" who support such not actually speak up? Why did they make no effort to have their voices heard, and instead let the NRA speak for them? Why does the majority remain silent, rather than making any effort to be heard over the NRA? The NRA has approximately five million members, where are the other three hundred and fifteen million individuals in this equation, and why are they maintaining their silence?
Taxing the rich less and the upper middle class more is a really bad idea and that is what the current tax plan does. And yes taxing less and spending more and ballooning the deficit is a really bad idea which is what the current will Republican plan will do even with dynamic scoring.
No i didn't say a rifle, I said an assault style weapon. And it has no actual function as a tool. There is nothing a civilisn does that requires that level of firepower.
You must not have attended any 3 gun matches or gone varmint hunting. You really don't seem like a competent enough authority to determine what guns are required by civilians.
Since anyone who has their liberty in this country has pretty much unlimited access to guns, it was not lax gun laws that got them killed. It was the failure of our revolving-door criminal justice system to incarcerate the known-violent criminal perpetrator that got them killed. The only way to prevent anyone from gaining access to a firearm in this country is to incarcerate them before they do. I saw a police report this morning from one of his many prior violent run-ins with the law that said he was a danger to himself and others. Whoever looked at that report and told this guy "you're free to go" has those people's blood on their hands.

I don't believe anyone in the church was carrying; in a state where they have open carry you'd think that people inside the church were carrying. Guns may work, but if you don't carry them, what good are they? A table weight maybe?
That is a statement of someone who knows nothing about the subject upon which he expounds. Tactical carbines are tremendously efficient and effective defensive tools. It's why there is one in a position where my wife can access it in a crisis situation. It's smaller and lighter than a shotgun, has less felt recoil, has a stock that can be adjusted to fit her smaller stature, and is equipped with a coaxial light and an appropriate optic. Loaded with proper self-defense ammo, a 5.56 carbine is less likely to penetrate the exterior walls of a structure than even a handgun round. My wife is a skilled rifle operator at any conventional distance, and is far more confident in running a carbine under stress than a handgun or shotgun. We are seeing carbines being used more and more often by honest citizens for defensive purposes (most recently and obviously by Johnny Langendorff, whose intervention with his own carbine stopped the slaughter in Sutherland Springs), so to claim they have "no actual function as a tool" is a claim of sheer ignorance.
When about half of our citizens are carrying gun crime will no longer be a serious problem. We will get there soon if not soon enough.
Nothing in particular... other than he had attended that church and threatened his former mother in law who attended the church. By all accounts the shooter was a dangerous, violent man with severe mental health issues. I think we should get rid of bump stocks, semi automatic weapons, large magazines and tighten up the reporting for those with mental health and domestic abuse issues.
So, confiscate about 200 million firearms from law abiding citizens? What's the plan to confiscate them from the criminals who have them now? If there are no semi-automatic weapons, why would you care about magazines for bolt action rifles?
Exactly, and they were built that way to help soldiers kill people, and it's why they are so often chosen by nut jobs to kill lots of people, like in a Colorado movie theater, in Las Vegas, in Orlando, and just a few days ago in Texas. Enough is enough, they don't belong in our civilian armory. Of course in you like reading about children being killed in a church, keep pretending that we should still allow them to be sold.
There's no rational basis for this, much less a compelling, reasoned argument. There's plenty of fallacious appeals to emotion to this effect, but they do no qualify as above.
Your unsupportable opinion does not negate the fact these firearms are "bearable arms" and as such, are protected by the constitution.
