If she used acceptable protocol and procedures she would not have disclosed one word to the media.

I agree, but this has no relevance to a prosecutor holding a media dog and pony show to espouse how tough and politically wise she thinks she is. That is totally inappropriate for a prosecutor (though not too uncommon.)

Maybe. But it's not exactly uncommon for prosecutors to announce charges and court cases.

    No, they aren't.

We make the laws and we should expect prosecutors to enforce them.

How do we know this prosecutor doesn't have a case? What is the long-term solution to prosecutors abusing their authority?

Corporations and other legal bodies can violate the law even if we don't know who is responsible. I don't know if she has the goods on them or not.

Frankly, I have no idea if the NRA plays fair or not. My particular bias is against freebies and money changing hands. Threatening to put a pol in or out of office is the way the game should work.

Often with large organizations there are wrongs done to people that cannot be attributed to individuals. There needs to be a deterrent to business owners hiding behind a corporate entity. I have no idea if such a remedy is justified in this case, or even if wrongs have been committed.

That's true, but the NY AG did not announce charges or a court case. What do you think were the criminal charges she announced?

The NY AG did not announce any illegality and did not announce any criminal charges. She announced some of her suspicions. Proper prosecutors do often announce criminal charges but never investigations unless they are putting on a political show. The relevance is all in the motivation.

What criminal charges did she announce?

Often not much of anything, especially if they are elected.

She doesn't have to file against a person. Corporations may be guilty of criminal negligence, but you may not be able to find the individual responsible for the faulty product.

Corporate death--taking over the company, recapitalizing it, and selling off the shares--is "fair game."

You are really stretching. You think a prosecutor can't file criminal charges against a corporation? You need to bone up.

No, I do think they can. The NYAG is asking for the corporate death penalty. Watch the fur fly! Corporations far and wide don't like the looks of this one. The bottom line here is the government can put you out of business and take your assets.

You're as much as suggesting people should be allowed to run a criminal enterprise and hide behind a corporation.

You don't think there are circumstances where management is so rotten they must be completely replaced? Recapitalize the country, then sell the shares?

That is not for the government to decide.

It should be a matter of law. There is no way it should be done by regulation.
