As long as both parties allow pharmaceutical and HMO companies to hold monopolies and charge Americans 3-10 times the market price for drugs and other services by using government agencies like FDA, AMA and other regulatory agencies to prevent alternative treatments and drugs from being utilized, we are screwed. Unfortunately those entities own both houses of congress on both sides of the aisle.

 

It seems republicans who say they believe in the free enterprise system managed to pass a bill under Bush preventing the Govt. from practicing the free enterprise system. ( negotiating drug prices) The idea that that the GOP wants to help the middle class is absurd.

You are confusing healthcare with health INSURANCE!

Capitalist healthcare is what provides the BENEFITS like better treatments.

Capitalist health INSURANCE is what makes US healthcare the MOST EXPENSIVE and LEAST COST EFFECTIVE in the world.

Eliminate the capitalist health INSURANCE and you will REDUCE healthcare costs by 15-20% via Single Payer and still have the benefit of capitalist healthcare.

If you want to go even further then ELIMINATE the Big Pharma Patent Scams and allow Generic drugs which will probably reduce costs by another 30-40% across the board.

No corporation should be allowed to put PROFITS ahead of the HEALTH and/or LIVES of PEOPLE.
