    Sure it is
Have you noticed that it's white billionaires paying the black millionaires?
    Really? Didn't notice that.

Way to downplay slavery. Anyway, I’m sure there’s multiple countries besides us that address the sex slavery, prison labor and human trafficking issues.

I find it notable that the Democrats spend so much time demonizing Republicans for their racist views. Yes, it's politics, and yes we can expect the propaganda machines on both sides to play the race card at every opportunity.

But seriously, the democrats do it with a straight face, ignoring that in point of fact, they are the racists who defended slavery with their best and brightest in the Civil War, founded the KKK, created the Jim Crow laws, supported and even fought for segregation, opposed civil rights legislation and right up to current times, express their racism.

And then they turn around and support reparations for people who have never been slaves, paid for by people who have never enslaved anyone, for "damages" that have never been proven.

Gotta give em credit; they got some chutzpa, eh?

    1. It’s not the Civil War anymore, it’s now and times have changed and the Republicans from 150 years ago ain’t the ones we have now.

    2. Republicans should just stop being racists if they don’t wanna get rightfully demonized.

Ever hear the ditty about making lemonade out of lemons?

As a very young boy, my grandfather escaped the Armenian genocide, came here and married an Italian woman. All of his kids and grandkids wouldn't exist were it not for that genocide.

None of which changes the fact that the lemons in this metaphor are still very shitty and will never be good in any way.

    1. The battle cry of the left has been the civil war and the treasonous southerners trying to support racism.
    2. The fundamental beliefs of the democrats and the republicans have not changed.
    3. When democrats point fingers and shout RACIST they are most often looking in a mirror.

Bullshit, a ton of Republicans are showing their anti-women, anti-LGBT and anti-minority sides every single day because that’s just who they are. DeSantis being major one right now but then you also have MTG and one other officially openly going to a white nationalist conference to speak to them.

Show me them equating a denial of free speech with savery and minimizing the horrors of slavery. Show me conservatives saying cpnservativea were the re victims during slavery. Do you believe only backs have ever been enslaved?

Should teachers be forced to teach that the Armenian genocide was beneficial to the victims because of stories like that?

The South seceded over slavery. The modern support for the Confederacy comes overwhelmingly from the right.

Not all slaves got benefits from being slaves, or there probably were no benefits from being slaves. If so, what were the benefits? I don't see what benefits there were for the slaves. Many slaves work for nothing and were treated unfairly.that I can see. Many owners treated them rough and were given the whip whether that was the only way they learned or having it come from disobediences. However not all family slaveowner didn't treat their slaves with violence and whippings. Some of them loved thier slaves and showed compassion toward them. It would depend on the individuals. That's all. Desants doesn't know what he is doing when it comes to some history books.

A child who was born out of rape saying “I am glad my mother was raped, I am her gift of that rape”.

The entire concept “slave got personal benefit from slavery” is like a rapist saying to victim “ well it might be against your will, but you did get pleasure out of it”.

    How inspiring!
You should let DeSantis know about that, his campaign can use some new material/
I'm sure he'll get his educational guy to get it into their history books.

While you're at it might as well throw in the Holocaust,
I'm sure he can garner lotsa votes from Florida's Democrat Jewish population, especially those whose ancestors were killed by Hitler's Nazis.
He can also throw in the old "God works in mysterious ways" thingy in case Black people and Jews have any doubts.

“Oh hey guyz, so King Leopold was a bad guy for plundering the Congo and killing off a lot of people but there were some personal benefits that came from it though.”

    -Ron DeSantis, probably.

Take it elsewhere. I'm merely reporting the comment of a Black businessman and the reaction to that comment by other Black businessmen.

The majority of the carpenters and skilled craftworkers in the Deep South were slaves.

The master would often loan them out and then let them keep a portion of the money.

The Deep South had a shortage of white labor.

I think probably the majority of white people did not want to live in the Deep South because of the heat and humidity (before air conditioning), and for the poorer white farmers, land was cheaper elsewhere (such as in Ohio, Illinois and Missouri, or even parts of Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina).
The wealthy lived in the Deep South because that's where their plantations were and where the profitable crops grew best, but it was difficult to work in the fields in that climate.
