An outbreak in a nursing home is a terrible thing for a virus with a mortality that significantly increases with age and other co-factors. And it goes without saying that the virus popping up in Chicago and Rhode Island is a bad thing as well.

And this chart of total cases is concerning because the total cases are starting to accelerate again.

This virus is not a "hoax" and the U.S. cases are not "going very substantially down.”

It is your civic duty to prepare.

 

An RT colleague of mine told me that his department is quietly concerned about the number of ventilators the hospital has on hand.

He said a twofold increase in ventilator need would cripple his department, and it's not like you can just go buy them. You have to place an order and wait for them to be built, with many of the components coming from, you guessed it, China.

Plus, they are very expensive.

 

Wow.

Isn't it great to know that we have a President that is taking this so seriously?

I mean having workers help SPREAD the Virus by not wearing protective clothing while calling it a "hoax" (and watching the stock market tank) has to really put Americans at ease.

It's sort of amusing at this point in time to see so very many people doing their Chicken Little impersonation over something that cannot be halted . . . unless, of course, one indefinitely holds one's breath; a solution with it's own problem set.

 

Democrats might be happy. Think of how SS will be cleaned up? If it’s mostly killing the old and sick, some might be happy that it could be solvent again.

 

Pro tip- in a pinch, anesthesia machines can be used as ventilators.

Most hospitals have more anesthesia machines than ventilators.

Hence why our Nationalism is righteous. Why the hell are we DEPENDING ON CHINA? How did we get here, to be so dependent on the Chinese? We can't say "America's great" or "the best democracy in the world" if we are crippled and kneed by the Chinese, for the Chinese and to need the Chinese.

The handwringing over this virus is driven by the fake news as: muh, Russia v4.0.

From a strictly economic standpoint, it's a US position against any monopolistic practices in general. Hence even mergers have to be regulated. You know, as we typically promote consumer choice and competition in the market. But precisely because it's "globalization", we can't imprint the kind of regulations we have on China.

As a result, this has happened. Globalism's great fault is that the moment you become dependent on imports from ANOTHER country, that demand can't be sated elsewhere.

This is the same chicken little nonsense you folks had to say about World War III with Iran, and every other wrong dooms day prophesy made since Trump's victory.

 

He was already including those in the numbers. But, it's not like those just sit around doing nothing. They are used every day on people with other diseases/medical issues and require cleaning between patients.

Actually this time they are correct. Hence their glee, as they know that with this virus' immense incubation period it's already spread throughout the United States and much of the rest of the world. It's just that in their short-sighted way they are still thinking about this stuff along lines of political advantage with ZERO comprehension of what it will mean to this nation if tens of thousands of people do come down with the virus or if it results in economic devastation. They might eventually have something to actually cry about.

 

A lot of the anesthesia machines do just sit around doing nothing. It's not like every OR is cranking 24/7. Most surgeries are done 9 to 5, and hardly any are done on weekends. Also, elective surgeries could be cancelled if somebody's life depended upon an anesthesia machine being used as a ventilator. Nobody dies if their boob job gets cancelled.

Anesthesia machines don't require much, or really any, cleaning between patients. The patient circuits(hoses and stuff) are all disposable. You just throw it away, and stick a new one on for the next patient.

You don't have to clean the internal mechanism of the anesthesia machine between patients, because there's a HEPA filter that keeps whatever germs and nasties that might be lurking in the machine from getting to the patient. The HEPA filter is one-use disposable too.

Note- I'm a clinical engineer. I repair anesthesia machines for a living.

 

How many people can he left in the US after that devastating war with Iran you guys predicted? I am hiding underground since Trump was elected so I expect things are pretty bad for humanity now. Well, you guys called it.
