Both of those had a lower R0 number because you showed symptoms before you were infectious.

yep, it's my 'term of endearment' for him...

he reminded me of those petting zoos where children would enter a corral and be attacked & humped by goats...

What I've noticed is that, once the left began to realize that their side commits most of the murders in this country, they stopped using the phrase 'if it saves just one life.' I've also noticed that the left stopped calling people intolerant, probably for the same reason.

Probably at least as many died from the H1N1 flu virus that struck in 2009 that was essentially ignored by a certain president for month after month after month . . . unlike what Trump is doing with the Corona Virus. The H1N1 sickened more than 60 million in the U.S. alone and killed some half a million worldwide.

    Ignored it, eh?

Washington (CNN) -- President Obama has declared a national emergency to deal with the "rapid increase in illness" from the H1N1 influenza virus.
    https://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/10/24/h1n1.obama/index.html

Anyway, H1N1 was a flu virus. Coronavirus is a member of the SARS family. It's much deadlier, easier to spread, and causes severe problems in 15% of people and puts about 6% in critical condition.

H1N1 infected roughly 60 million Americans. If Coronavirus infects just half that many, based on what we know so far, you're looking at 6 million people with severe problems and 1.5 million in critical condition. That would quickly overwhelm our system (we have about a million staffed hospital beds total).

Why do you think all these countries are closing everything and implementing draconian measures? We know how to deal with flu strains, even severe ones. This is an entirely new thing.

If you attempt to prepare after the story is in the news, guess what, you aren’t preparing, you are writing your last will and testament from the listing deck of the titanic. Being prepared isn’t a hack, it’s a campaign.
This is a picture of my right palm. One day shoveling snow, I slipped on ice and came down on a sharp piece of metal. It cut my hand pretty bad where stitches were necessary. I elected not to go to the emergency room and let my wife bust out her giant first aid kit, wash out and sterilize the wound and put 8 stitches in one of the hands that I make a living with. That is being prepared.

It kind of is a nothing What separates this from the flu? Which BTW has taken apx. 10K lives this season.Yet...... not a single world about What separates this from, Ebola, SARS, Zika, Swine Flu, Hong Kong Flu etc etc. Remember those were the virus that were going to kill everyone and wipe out the world. Here is another thing, if you're very young/old you're going to get sick and a lot faster and harder then someone who isn't. Something with someone who is immune compromised. Here is the kicker with that, those same "rules" apply to every illness out there, flu, cold, strep, etc etc etc. What you need to do is break the chain of infection(I'll let you look that up) With that people don't sick(at least not as many); wash your hands(the best thing you can do) cover your mouth, stay away as much as possible from unsick people. It isn't rocket science.

I blame China! From what I gather from the left they seem tp think Trump had all to do with it! Like any President can keep a virus contained when a disgusting country like China is infecting the planets every couple of years with a new and improved strain of viral death...

For one, it's not the flu. It's a member of the SARS family, which is why you're seeing massive efforts to slow the spread. When's the last time China put a billion people on lockdown/partial lockdown? When's the last time Japan closed all their schools? It's much more lethal, almost twice as easy to catch, and puts about 6% of people in critical condition.

If you're an EMT, you don't need me to tell you. You also don't (or shouldn't) need me to tell you it's imperative we slow the spread so our healthcare system isn't totally overwhelmed.

Yes it's very contagious and the most vulnerable are the aged folks above 60 with hypertension or heart problems, we should not be affected that much like what happened in China affecting their economy that much, we only have to be cautious, be clean and tidy, unlike the source of this outbreak.

I invited the chief of our fire department to watch the procedure. His comment was “no way! Nobody does this”.
I really miss that guy. RIP chief Isaiah, I love you brother.

Yea, I did answer your question. And then I lost interest in trying to follow the bullshit logic underlying the "welfare is designed to destroy the black family" nonsense.

But please, feel free to comment about the topic of this thread now that you are here.

But isn't this the new way Trump funds things?
I mean gee. If it works for a wall why not a bug?
