Even if he misspoke and meant immune from death he'd still be ignoring the suspected long term effects of the disease on people, even those who were symptom free, children included. With that being the case and Republicans are refusing to insure those with pre-conditions kids getting sick today can look at a lifetime of high insurance rates, if they can get it at all, limited employment and the possibility of chronic illness their entire lives.

Ho hum. Once again someone acts as if Trump said flatly that children are immune without mentioning his all important qualifier which is the word “basically “.

    Basically
used to indicate that a statement summarizes the most important aspects, or gives a roughly accurate account, of a more complex situation.

I do not think the Trump shutdown guidelines were needed if that is what you're asking

So then you believe everyone should die like Democrats and the MSM have told us? What a heartless SOB you are, hehe :) That was my Leftist side coming out there. Kidding. And what was the Trump shutdown? Do you think Trump determines when individual states are allowed to open or close business? The states determine that. The only thing Trump wanted to shut down after all the pressure, was travel, but Biden, the MSM and Democrats called him a racist.

    Interesting.

you mean like Trump told us, Trump said millions would have died if not for his shutdown guidelines, do you believe Trump?

Trump declared a national emergency and then issues his presidential shutdown guidelines

It was irresponsible for Trump to say that instead of being more precise with his language. Children are not immune. One of the reasons children have been such a low part of the demographic pie is because school systems started shutting down immediately and families were going into shutdown mode. With schools reopening, their slice of the pie will grow. Sure it is better to be 8 than 80 and get it, but being 8 does not mean you can't get it.

Let's not forget why Trump made this idiotic claim.

He was trying to force school reopening.

And oh look, one college just turned up 1,000 infections and Florida is hiding hundreds

basically Trump financial advisors told Trump people were having a hard time returning to work cause of child care, that is when Trump cared about opening schools so badly, the health of the children did not come into play... Sad!

A long as they're not in the fetal stage it does not matter to the right wingers.

Children are not immune at all they simply pick up the virus at a lower rate than adults. but when children do get it they are in far greater danger because their immune systems are not as developed as adults. And they can also pass the virus on to other people in their households or in the general Public.

Pathetic. You want to justify Trump's false b.s. with the word "basically"? That's your counter-point trying to justify what he said with the word "basically"? Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

I do remind you many people right of centre think Trump is a large sphincter muscle and do not prescribe to your smeer of all right wingers. This has nothing to do with right wingers or left wingers. It has to do with Covid. The need to slot people all in either left or right categories during debate is intellectually lazy.

    Wrong on both counts

"While all children are capable of getting the virus that causes COVID-19, they don't become sick as often as adults. Most children have mild symptoms or no symptoms.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children's Hospital Association, in the United States children represent about 9% of all COVID-19 cases. Hospitalization rates for children are much lower than for adults." (CDC).

An anti-choice for women and defunding Planned Parenthood is ALWAYS a right wing platform. Caging kids and separating children from their parents at the border was NEVER a problematic issue for the right! The need to deny the facts is extremely disingenuous and looking at someone else's kid as a statistic is typically sociopathic conservative.
