This threads about the democrats and their media attempting to disparage Trump for a statement that is absolutely correct. If you want to discuss children spreading the virus feel free to start a thread on that subject.

What you cannot do is cite a single public health authority that would pretend that "children are basically immune."

Why do we, as a society, take any safeguards when it comes to children? The greatest percentage survive all childhood ailments and accidents. Let's just let them run scissors. Why bother to put them in child seats or seat belts? Why teach them bicycle safety? Why have childproof caps? Why have school crossing guards? Why have day care (Let them stay home alone)? All these things just cost the consumer. Before we had them and similar requirements in place most kids still survived. As George Carlin said, "the kid who swallows too many marbles doesn't grow up to have kids of his own.

 

Nah what he's really saying is people are struggling moms especially the poor, need to get back to work to fee their kids. What he's really saying is that there is that the data suggest that kids catching and transmitting is extremely low with this virus, thank god. What he's really saying is kids need school to develop both mentally and physically, if you deny this than why the F are we paying so much of or tax dollars for these crappy schools? The bottom line is some kids will catch it, same as the flu but a tiny fraction will actually get sick and even smaller fraction will die. In other words their chancing of injury is probably greater driving their than from this virus. Now do the schools need to provide masks and sanitizer, damn right. Should the teacher be behind a small plexiglass panel yes. It's not hard to wear mask til kids are seated. It not hard to use sanitizer when going to the bathroom, and it's not hard for a teacher to social distance. We can't let our kids fall behind over something they aren't really affected by.

 

Some die every year it's sad that the world is not a bubble for kids but that's life. How many starve per year, how many die in accidents at home, how many are abused at home, we could go on and on but your talking about literally removing kids from their biggest growth opportunity both mentally, physically and socially. How can you dismiss that so easily? You have more risk at your business than they do yet you go every day, why?

There is a significant difference between asymptomatic and immune. Saying otherwise, is quite frankly, idiotic.

 

When someone attaches word “basically” to their statement that means they should not be taken literally.
Children do get COVID-19, and almost all of them go through it with minimal symptoms.
Everybody, except far left partisans, understood what Trump was saying.

Anyone who says that someone infected with Covid-19 but symptom-free is "basically immune" is wrong. No medical expert would say such a stupid thing.
Such infected individuals can transmit the disease and cause people to die. Asymptomatic carriers of a disease, e.g., "Typhoid Mary," are not "basically immune."

 

Trump is not a medical expert. He’s just a normal person talking to normal people and we know what he meant by his statement. It’s only the TDS crowd playing the semantics game and they are doing so out of blind hate and or politics.
