He was a twelve yr. old brandishing a gun around other people (kids as well), who did not show hid hands when police told him to and instead reached for his gun.

Let's see...do I risk going home to my wife in a box, or do I eliminate the possibility?

Another liberal hitting his F3 macro gun-whining auto-response in a thread where it has no relevance whatsoever.

You might risk the box it if you knew it was a kid, but you dont in such a situation. It would be a tough situation. I doubt the officer killed the kid because he wanted to. Sometimes I think everyone gets too hysterical about stuff. Maybe it is simply a horrible event.

    LOL you Americans.

At what point do you guys stop this foolish cowardice?

You have 360 million people, foolish children will always occur - the next time itll be an Eight year old waving a fake gun, will you Americans give your police a pat on the back again for shooting the child dead? How about a five year old?

You right wing guys are truly contemptible.

Time for Americans with guns, ie the police, to stop hiding behind them.

Well when Obama gives cops and dhs these type of targets. The cops did what what the dhs and Obama wants them to do. Don't hesitate. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416837044.356897.jpg

Keep your gun but at least have the decency to remain a man.

    Zzz...

Your usual, lame partisan division falls flat since it's quite clear even the left are saying a cop can protect himself from someone reaching for a weapon.

The difference is you guys will actually go one better on these very forums and celebrate these events, pay tribute to the bravery of cops while warning kids not to wave guns around lest they be shot by local law enforcement.

    We will, eh.
No need to justify your rhetoric to me.

Well yeah . . . except that 'bravery' is a relative term and as long as a Law Enforcement Officer is obeying the rule book while -- more or less -- effectively doing the job then bravery or lack thereof is irrelevant. As to informing youngsters that they should not wave a convincing simulacra of a dangerous weapon at a police officer, yes that definitely comes under the heading of WISE parenting.

in this particular case, it's very "shaky" that the cop needed to fire. they were warned about a gun, they showed up in numbers, no need to get close, no need to not have cover. I think that somebody panicked (all too common) and they shot the kid. then they had to cover it up, so they cut the end off of the kid's gun. He was still stupid to be waving a gun around an urban area.

Well, unless the cops are truly mentally inept (and let's be honest, there's a good number of them that are), the responding officers could have realized that they were dealing with a 12 year-old child (not an adult) and handled the situation much differently. Again, there's no reason for this 12 year-old to be buried today.

I see...so you would be the brave guy who approached a guy with a gun and let him reach into his waistband?

Golly....you are most certainly a force unto yourself....You should be a Cop, so we can all rest easy.

That's not what the new stronger local forces Obama wants are trained to do. They are trained not to hesitate.

I'm an advocate for non-lethal means in which to subdue a potential bad guy. We have the technology to send man-made machines out of our solar system yet we still equip our police with gunpowder and lead projectiles. Basically the same technology used by police 150 years ago to subdue bad guys.

Could this 12 year old have been subdued with a taser? Rubber bullets?

    Incapacitate...non-lethally.

    Phasers set to stun!

Ok, expert..... what "looking" age is the correct age for a cop to shoot back when a gun is being drawn ?

Aren't you a lefty? Whatever happened to "guns kill people"?
Why is a gun in a 12 year old's hand less dangerous than in a 18 year old's hand?

    Actually there is. He's dead.

So you would have waited to see if the kid had a real gun? How many shots would you allow him to put in your face before you responded?

he might have reached 13 if you and the rest of the liberal horde had encouraged him to be civilized instead of telling him that he is oppressed and needs to be "Black" at all costs.

No, the fool waits until he has been shot by what he thought was a toy gun and then his wife and kids are left to grieve and watch the 12 year old get out of jail on his 21 BD.

That was fantasy not real life. The man of generosity had nothing to fear and he knew it.

So you let him shoot 11 times into the streets and hope that no one is hit?

i was something of TV years back that reminds me of this kids parents. A local TV station was do a first day of school story live at a kindergarten they were going to ask what the kids parents told them about their first day of school so the cute young Hispanic lady picked a little Black boy coming off of the bus and squatted down next to him and asked if it was his first day of school, he said yes so she asked what his mother told him before he got of the bus. The little boy looked right in her eyes and said "Don't take one s**t off them teachers." The reported fell back of her butt and producer switched back to the station and went to a commercial. I don't expect that that boy is an engineer or even a used car salesman.

YOU, are the reason this little boy is dead and many, many more will die.

Remain a man? Look this is a very bad and sad situation with this kid but having someone from across the pond generalize Americans is asinine.

Your attempt to call out someones manhood? Really? Lets hear all about your manhood theory applied to this situation.

"Sure makes me feel like a man to kill a boy". Sounds kinda stupid to me.

The officers could have easily shot NOT to kill as a last resort. I guess they aren't that skilled though.

What the hell? Liberal horde? Black Oppression? We're talking about a 12 year old playing with a toy gun. Take your incoherent ramble somewhere out of this thread.

LOL Obviously he's a child. If cops approach situations regarding children the same way they would adults, it just shows how flawed their rationale and training has been. And I'm more of an independent thinker. If this country would think about situations independently, rather right or left like yourself, maybe we'd be in a better situation than we are.

... who was reaching for a gun.

I asked you a question... why is his gun weaker than an 18 yr old's gun?

Not that hard to answer, is it?

You may have noticed by now, I am standing side-by-side with Righties and lefties, who agree this cop can protect the lives of others by shooting someone reaching for a gun.

All I did was ask you if you believe it's guns who kill people, and not the people.... then why his is gun less dangerous?

I hate these stories and I usually DO NOT give the police the benefit of the doubt, because I know these trigger happy bastards can't wait to fire that gun. They couldn't take cover and give verbal commands and wait?

A painter friend of mine just a few days ago was drawn down on by a cop, for no reason at all. He was getting ready to paint the outside of a house, all his supplies laid out, dressed in painter's whites with a bucket in his hand. Cop comes around the corner with his gun drawn and yells, "What the fark are you doing here?" Uh, painting, robo cop. What the hell does it look like?

As my friend says, one cop and a Dirty Harry fantasy. That is most of them, in my view. They're under qualified, undertrained, overzealous, and their willing accomplices are an apathetic citizenry that thinks cops should act like Marines. I'm getting sick of this sheeeeat!

    - - - Updated - - -

A 12 year old couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol from 25 yards away. Most cops can't either, and they should've kept their distance, taken cover and gave verbal commands.
